Today we recognise the achievements by women and their allies but also the challenges that remain to bridge the persistent digital gender divide. #IWD2024 Some positive news: our new data shows that the mobile gender gap in developing countries dropped from 19% to 15% in 2023. This brings the gap back to levels of 2020, before progress on bridging the gender digital divide started to stall. Much work remains: if we are to close the mobile gender gap by 2030 around 100 million women need to be connected each year! We need targeted action by all stakeholders to achieve this. GSMA's #ConnectedWomen Commitment Partners have reached >70m additional women since 2016, demonstrating that setting clear targets & taking informed action makes a real difference in driving women's digital & financial inclusion.
