Despite being deemed healthy prior to departure, 80 sheep recently dropped dead during a flight from Australia to Indonesia. The incident is currently under investigation by Australia's Department of Agriculture. The development of new Codes and Code revisions is a team effort. Below is an example of the support and guidance taken to update the Code of Practice for the Handling of Beef Cattle.

The #INCAS S.p.A. Tannery guarantees, thanks to a risk analysis conducted and certified by #ICEC, that animal welfare regulations have been adhered to when selecting the origins and suppliers of the company's raw hides based on the outcomes attained. This study is customized to the specific supply chain from which the tannery sources its supplies (countries and places of origin, specific slaughterhouses and related farms) in the specified period. The great result of 81/100 was attained by the combination of three indicators:? Animal Welfare on the farm, Animal Welfare during transportation and at the time of the killing e Stunning. The Skills Development Program (SDP) was formed to develop industry skills and capacity, by rolling-out trainings tailored to the industry’s needs. Over its 8 years the SDP also built the capacity of local training service providers, who are now independently delivering high quality trainings to industry members. Meanwhile, Steven Roche, the Code's Scientific Writer, ensures the Code Committee has access to summaries of the latest science on priority welfare issues.
