Investor Toomase Conference 2025 ??
On Saturday, one of the year’s most important investment-themed conferences, organized by ?rip?ev, took place in Tallinn. For me, it’s more of a place for entertainment and socializing. But, I still managed to pick up a few golden nuggets.?
Some of the big names in Estonia’s business and investment scene were present, including Kaarel Ots, Joakim Helenius, Paavo Siimann, Madis Toomsalu, Kristjan Liivam?gi, and others. ??
In the first half of the day, the legendary Raivo Hein took the stage, wearing the provocative T-shirt #DontBePoor (this mainly applies to mindset). I’ve always liked his straightforwardness, and once again, Hein emphasized that in the end, we are all responsible for our own struggles and misfortune, not anyone else. ??
?? It turns out that the Baltic stock market has outperformed the S&P 500 index for quite some time (although not in the past few years). ??
?? In the long run, stock prices always reflect a company's real value, stick with the winners, and don't take profits too early. ??
?? The old truth that 90% of investors earn worse returns than the market average. One of the reasons for this is also being a “hobby investor,” making trades based on gut feelings, rumors, etc., without a clear strategy or oversight on how a specific asset class is performing in the investor's portfolio. ??♂?
?? The U.S. stock market is at an all-time high and a correction is expected – however, it was pointed out that with Trump’s arrival, the business environment there could become more favorable, which should support economic growth. ??
?? It’s predicted that China’s population could decline to 600 million in the long run, while the U.S. population is expected to grow to over 400 million, and the EU will remain around 400 million. Favorable immigration policies are an advantage for the U.S. and the EU (we’ll see what Trump invents next). ????
The Investment Achievement of the Year went to OTRjutud (Off The Record Talks), and the title of Investor of the Year was awarded to Lev Dolgatsjov – a man who has truly earned this recognition! OTR is one of the rising stars in investment-related journalism, with its educational articles and interesting podcasts. ????
The best presentations were by Marko Oolo and Kristi Saare. Oolo, as usual, gave a very well-prepared presentation on his principles for wealth creation, ending by saying that the most important thing is family. ?????????? Saare emphasized the importance of discipline, asking the audience who has ever taken on the challenge of doing something for at least 100 days in a row? Nothing happens by itself, and no one will make you better, happier, or wealthier – you are the master of your own fate! ?????
So, let’s not whine ourselves into poverty (especially in terms of mindset), let’s maintain discipline and a long-term vision, and good things will start happening almost by themselves! ??????
