Hiring a board level professional at a startup is tough. When I recruit a C-level professional for startup I see it as introducing a new person into the family. This family is the founders and existing board. The fit and the way this new hire fits and gels is the most important and complex factor. This new hire will no doubt need to challenge, make changes, and potentially bring new concepts and ways of working. BUT they need to do it in a way that fit’s with the existing team. The relationship between the board members is critical. Finding a C-level professional is straightforward. Finding the one that will fit into the family AND make the desired contribution to the success of the business is the real challenge. #executivesearch #startup #scaleup
