The approaching anniversary of October 7th brings a solemn reminder of the ongoing pain and loss experienced by the global community. The reverberations of that day continue to bring more communities and people into an expanding conflict. As we know from the Peacemakers in Action Network, even in the midst of war, there are people and organizations in active conflict zones that continue their work to foster lasting peace and dialogue across differences. They rarely make headlines, but their works for peace ring loud, and Tanenbaum amplifies their call. Below are resources to foster respect across communities and support each other in times of crisis. While the future is uncertain, we know there are people and organizations who hold a vision for communities of mutual respect. Together, we can, and we must see beyond conflict to create the conditions for a collective and lasting peace. We invite you to check out our resource which includes a non-exhaustive list of organizations bravely promoting dialogue and support for those affected by this ongoing conflict. ?? https://lnkd.in/dUqybMmM

ATTENTION PEACEMAKERS In a world full of division and polarization, we believe the path forward starts with understanding--not just agreeing or disagreeing. That's why Treehouse Talks is launching the Peace Making Initiative. Once a month, we'll bring together two individuals from unique political backgrounds to share why they believe what they do--and the importance of peace building in today's world. It's time to listen. It's time to understand. We can't move forward without open-minded dialogue and a willingness to hear each other out. When we take the time to listen, bridges are built, judgments fade, and compassion grows. Join us as we try to create more room for everyone, one conversation at a time.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and honour the resilience and strength of those affected by the residential school system. ??? ? The legacy of colonialism and the residential school system has contributed to the ongoing cycles of trauma and domestic violence within Indigenous communities. At Discovery House, we are committed to providing better support for Indigenous families as they heal from intergenerational trauma and the traumatic cycle of domestic violence. We do this through creating culturally safe environments and practices, fostering meaningful and lasting partnerships, and supporting initiatives that empower Indigenous voices. Reconciliation is a journey that requires us to confront uncomfortable truths and remain committed to creating meaningful change. Dear Friends and Colleagues, As the fires of war once again engulf the Middle East, threatening the very existence of nations and the survival of humanity, we must now more than ever double our efforts. This conflict, which has escalated to unprecedented levels, risks not only devastating a region that has already seen so much suffering but also spreading chaos across the globe. The sacred lands that have witnessed the lives of prophets, the birthplace of peace, are now being used to justify terror and destruction. The cries of innocent men, women, and children echo across borders, and the future of entire generations hangs in the balance. This is not just a regional conflict anymore; it is a global crisis with far-reaching consequences. In these perilous times, we cannot afford to be passive. Each of us holds a responsibility—to stand for peace, to raise our voices against injustice, and to work tirelessly towards solutions that uphold the dignity and sanctity of life. Let us double our efforts to promote understanding, compassion, and dialogue. Let us advocate for justice, for only through justice can lasting peace be achieved. Humanity is at a crossroads, and the choices we make today will determine the future of our children and the world they inherit. Our collective strength, commitment, and faith can be the light in these dark times. Let us not waver in our pursuit of peace and harmony. Now is the time to act with courage and conviction. Let us unite, stand firm, and continue the noble fight for a world where every life is valued and every conflict resolved through peace, not war. With sincere resolve, Voice For Peace Bajaur

On this October 7, we pause to reflect on the profound impact of the ongoing conflicts and the devastating toll it has taken on innocent lives. In times like these, our hearts are heavy with the pain and loss felt by so many around the world. It is a moment to honor those who have been affected, to mourn with those grieving, and to offer our unwavering support to all who are suffering. As we remember the lives lost and the families torn apart, we also recognize the resilience of the human spirit. We must stand together, not only in remembrance but also in our shared hope for a future defined by peace, understanding, and mutual respect. Now more than ever, we are reminded of the need for dialogue and reconciliation, and the importance of working towards a world where such tragedies are no longer a reality. Colonial slavery shaped modern Britain - and we all still live with its legacies today. On Anti-Slavery Day, we wanted to highlight The Scott Trust Legacies of Enslavement Report. Researchers from the Wilberforce Institute at the University of Hull worked with The Guardian, carrying out in-depth research to uncover links between their founders and transatlantic slavery. This research was conducted and produced in a way that strived to keep the perspectives of the enslaved and their stories at the forefront. It led to a series of academic reports and revealed the names of more than 300 people enslaved on plantations connected to the Guardian’s founders. The Wilberforce Institute and Guardian Media Group have now signed a three-year agreement to build on this work to explore the links it might have with historical slavery and reparations in greater depth.
