Our second day at IFSA was beyond slow— only 3 people visited our stand in 9 hours. But I turned it into one of our most productive days through ‘stalking’. Hear me out: Someone once pointed out to me that "There are only 40 major airlines total: 25 national and 15 international." This meant even 5-10 quality meetings could make the show worthwhile. So I became what I call a "professional stalker": ? I spotted key decision-makers having meetings at other stands ? Instead of waiting at our booth, I waited around corners with sample bags ? When their meetings ended, I made my move Three of these "stalking incidents" led to direct conversations with United and Southwest executives. But they’d have never happened if I stayed put. Trade shows aren't about foot traffic — they're about strategic connections. One conversation with the right decision-maker outweighs 100 casual visitors. Don't sit at your booth waiting for visitors. If they can’t come to your stand, bring it to them.
