??A follow up on my previous post linked below: ???If you are curious to know who is going to speak in our Water Shortage Planning program, we have just updated the program with our speakers' titles and affiliations: https://lnkd.in/gP7ksvRT ??We will have a diverse range of speakers, creating a confluence of perspectives from operation (EPCOR and Aquatera Utilities), management and planning (Capital H2O, AE, ATAP, Jacobs, WaterSMART, and Hazen & Sawyer), regulation (AEPA), and - most importantly - our audience. ??We are featuring a presentation on Water Reuse topic, delivered by WaterSMART and Hazen & Sawyer. This presentation will inform about policy and regulatory environment for water reuse particularly in municipal context, and implications of water reuse from economic and water supply perspectives. It will draw from lessons learnt in Canada and the US and will be tailored to Alberta conditions. ??We will have an interactive session for water shortage planning to practice the acquired knowledge through this program to inform what to include within a water shortage plan and which potential risks to consider pertaining to water source, treatment, and distribution. ?Do not miss out checking the more detailed program updated today, and potentially attending. Hope to see many familiar faces and get to meet many new faces on the program day. #waterscarcity #waterreuse #waterplanning #watershortage
Join us for two informative seminars designed to tackle the unique challenges of wastewater treatment and water shortages in Canada. Learn from industry experts about optimizing lagoon performance and preparing for water shortages. Both events are taking place in Red Deer on October 15 & 16, providing a great opportunity to maximize your training investment. https://lnkd.in/gJe_x_J

It was great to connect with local groundwater users and licence holders last week at workshops in Elliston and Coffin Bay. Our Program Manager Water, Andrew led the workshops to explain the current revision of the water allocation plan and how stakeholders can provide feedback. Also involved in the workshop were representatives from the Department for Environment and Water, involved with groundwater assessment and management, SA Water and Flinders University. There’s still time to have a say about the revision of EP’s water allocation plan, which we maintain to regulate & manage how much water can be taken from prescribed groundwater resources. The Tucson Metro Chamber and Metropolitan Pima Alliance addressed Mayor and Council about proposed increases in commercial water rates and the water supply fee. We emphasized the importance of securing Central Arizona Project water in anticipation of potential supply reductions. However, stable costs and regulations are an important element of economic competitiveness. Constant increases to water rates could negatively impact our region’s businesses. Ensuring they remain as low as possible while maintaining sustainable water supply is our priority. The Chamber and MPA shared strategies to help keep water rates as low as possible for the community. KGUN9 highlighted our VP of Business Advocacy’s remarks during the discussion. ? ?? Natural Ground water recharge is becoming one of the major concerns in urban zones. Rainwater harvesting can actually help us overcome the water related problems. My thesis was centered around the ground water recharge applications. To know more about gw recharge applications you can see WSUD(water sensitive urban design) concepts.
Drawing on research from government agencies, civil society organizations, and industry experts, the National Urban Rainwater Harvesting (NURWH) Guidelines provide a practical framework to help towns and cities design their own RWH strategies. Successful implementation relies on understanding local hydrogeology, water use patterns, and the roles of both government bodies and citizens. By following a step-by-step process—from setting city objectives to making legislative changes—urban local bodies can ensure sustainable water management through RWH. Let’s work together to make our cities more water-secure!

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) announced that the State Water Project (SWP) initial water allocation is five percent of contracted amounts. This means fewer than 50,000 acre-feet of water would be delivered to Kern County water users from the SWP in 2025—compared to the contracted amount of about one million acre-feet. “A five percent allocation is incredibly disappointing and provides no hope for replenishment of groundwater banking reserves that provide agricultural and urban water during low allocation years,” said Kern County Water Agency (Agency) Board of Directors President Ted Page. A Special Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting will include public discussions on proposed user fees for the Merrick Landfill and Bourke Street Pickleball Courts as well as the 2025 Preliminary Water and Wastewater Calculated Rates. The City is proposing a shift to a 40% fixed / 60% variable billing structure for water and wastewater services in 2025. The fixed portion, based on meter size, will cover system maintenance and operations. The variable portion, based on water usage, encourages conservation and rewards efficient use. Anyone may attend the meeting and provide feedback, whether in support of or opposition to the proposed fees and rates. A Special Council Meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Watch the livestream at https://ow.ly/PkLA50UFLCP Special Committee Meeting Agenda: https://ow.ly/Ml6H50UFLCT Special Council Meeting Agenda: https://ow.ly/Laxa50UFLCQ
