How do we ensure operational excellence when faced with unexpected challenges? Recently, we encountered a challenge delivering forklifts for Transnet Engineering (TE) Wheels Operation in Koedoespoort. The equipment didn’t match the requested specifications, particularly the mast height and forklift tonnages where instead of 4- and 5-ton forklifts, we delivered 4.5. and 5.5 tons. Today at Synthomer Ghent Belgium we had a safe and successful turnaround. The mechanical window was limited for two weeks from 14 October to 25 October. As Turnaround manager, I am proud to announce that the mechanical completion has been completed successfully and safely. I couldn't do this without the help of all the employees, both from production and maintenance. And it could be seen that ZERO HARM is really well established at Synthomer. It's because of our behaviour that is so focused on safety, this is also towards the contractors who are carrying out work for us and also so focused on safety and want to carry out the work as experts. That is why we felt that this turnaround was a success both in terms of execution and planning and SAFETY A successful turnaround in production and maintenance without safety issues typically involves a number of key steps: 1. *Thorough Planning*: Before the turnaround begins, a detailed plan is created that maps out all activities, timelines, and resources needed. This plan also includes safety procedures and risk assessments. 2. Team Composition: A multidisciplinary team is set up that is responsible for the execution of the turnaround. This team consists of experts in the field of production, maintenance and safety. 3. Training and Preparation: Prior to the turnaround, all employees receive training on safety protocols and the specific tasks they need to perform. This ensures that everyone is well prepared and aware of the safety risks. 4. Effective Communication: Throughout the process, there is constant communication between the team members and other stakeholders. This helps to reduce problems
