I’ve noticed that a lot of local businesses in my community don’t last very long. They pop up, sometimes with a lot of excitement, but before you know it, they’re gone. I recently spoke with a local restaurant owner and asked him, “Why do so many businesses fail around here?” His answers highlighted common challenges that, while specific to my area, might resonate with anyone who’s seen similar patterns elsewhere: a) Not enough people knew about the business (lack of marketing) b) It wasn’t something people felt they needed (poor offer) c) The service or product didn’t meet expectations (though this isn’t usually the main issue) In my community, most struggling businesses face issues with A & B. An entrepreneur might have a great idea but assumes word of mouth will do all the heavy lifting. Or they think a small sign or a minimal online presence is enough to attract the attention of thousands of potential customers. Sometimes, the idea just doesn’t stick. It happens everywhere, not just here. I’ve made my own share of mistakes, but I’ve been fortunate to have a business that’s flexible enough to pivot and adapt based on feedback and changing needs. Another big help was launching a local podcast, where I started interviewing dozens of local business owners. What began as a small project has grown into a full-time endeavor, connecting me with hundreds of people both in my community and beyond. It’s been a fantastic way to share ideas, learn from others, and build stronger connections. I’m incredibly grateful for the support. I’m curious—what are the challenges in your community? Have you noticed similar trends with local businesses? What strategies have you seen that work? I’m also excited to share that I’ll be launching a private community soon, where I’ll be hosting weekly coaching calls. I’ve been doing this for about three years now, working with over 400 entrepreneurs across the country. This new space will feature exclusive interviews with some of the most successful people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, all for less than the cost of most monthly subscriptions. For me, it’s about giving back, not profit. I believe that by serving others, everything else will fall into place.

1 个月I love the work you company and the co-creative hub are doing in Russellville. If I didn't live in Nashville, I would've done this years ago, but also. I don't think Russellville was ready for it then. Keep it up. Seriously, it's awesome to see this group of young, hungry entrepreneurs pushing my hometown forward. Would love to come on the pod when I'm back in town to chat why content is so important! Keep killin it man!
