Dyslexia Awareness Month: Humor as a Tool for Reflection October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a learning difference that affects millions yet remains misunderstood by many. Yes, I’ve taken to the stage to poke fun at myself as I am a middle-aged, glass wearing mama. I want to inspire others to take a step back, slow down, and genuinely reflect on what the word Dyslexia represents when they see it on and off stage. When you are laughing, you are also listening and learning. Dyslexia isn’t something to be ashamed of; it’s a different way of processing the world, a world that sometimes throws curveballs like words that don’t make sense or letters that seem to colorfully dance around the page. Here’s a clip of my journey into stand-up, where I use humor as a bridge to greater awareness. https://lnkd.in/egGjtqQp This Dyslexia Awareness Month, let’s laugh, learn, and keep the conversation going! Share this post with as many people as you can. #Dyslexia #Read # Literacy

Teachers are incredible and we need to listen to them a lot more. Let's always pay attention to teachers and do not tie-up their understanding, passion, and creativity. Listen and treat them as the experts that they are. I'm sharing this video with you as an example of what we can learn when we listen. This is also true of the moderator, a former teacher who is listening with four ears. Listen and enjoy. https://lnkd.in/gz6auHtA

I'm PUMPED about this book from the young authors at 826 Boston. I love reading these pieces with my toddler... full of amazing life lessons, for both me and him. Here's some of our faves: ?? ?? "If you are kind/ You will find/ Friends, if you are a scholar/ You will earn a dollar/ Or many..." ?? "My friends ate some crayons and my friends are 7 years old and I am 5.... My friends left school because they got sick. Lucky me, I didn't eat crayons. I didn't get sick! So do not eat some crayons even if it looks yummy." ?? ?? "It's normal to be scared of the dark, so be as brave as you can be. If you think you are scared of the dark, it's because you're afraid of the future and what's going to happen next. You can solve that by remembering that not everything in movies, the Internet, or TV shows is real. Most scary shows take place in a dark room." ??? "Write down your passwords and usernames on pieces of paper to remember them." ?? "Loving your mom is the most important thing because she takes care of you and you should value her now because one day she will get old and disappear." ?? "Mi consejo sería que los ni?os aprendan a escribir sus ideas y sentimientos para sentirse mejor." ("My advice would be for children to learn to write down their ideas and feelings to feel better" .... talk about the spirit of 826!)
T'S HERE! IT'S HERE! #826Boston’s newest publication, “What If The World Needs You? Advice and Life Lessons from 826 Boston Students,” is out in the world! This publication is part of the Young Authors' Book Project and features: ?? 90 student authors who wrote more than 70 original pieces ?????? ?? Invaluable lessons and astute advice by kids, for kids (and for adults, if we’re really being honest) ?? Student illustrations that are just ?? ?? Audio recordings to accompany a few of the stories ?? (thanks to our generous partner Nosy Crow) ?? Stories that are guaranteed to make you experience the magic, warmth, creativity, genius, and brilliance of these student authors. Get your copy today! https://lnkd.in/gC3Z_a_a

Each month, The Taos Institute is highlighting several books from its WorldShare Books collection. These books are free for downloading. Enjoy! Fr?n p?verkan till medverkan (in Swedish) Harlene Anderson and Harold A. Goolishian Seen as a classic in systemic training programs, this book is a translation of five articles written by Harlene Anderson and Harry Goolishian, including Problem Determined Systems: Towards Transformations in Family Therapy (1986) and Human Systems as Linguistic Systems: Preliminary and Evolving Ideas about the Implications for Clinical Theory (1988).
