The 'AVA' footbridge is part of the TIES Living Lab programme, a transformative collaboration of 25 partners focused on driving smarter transport infrastructure using data, technology and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). NSAR acted as PMO for the Living Lab. The AVA revolutionises the procurement, manufacturing and installation of railway footbridges. It uses a modular design, which is cheaper and quicker to construct. Lifts are built into the bridge’s design, making it much easier to travel between the platforms. ?? Terry Rookard’s recent publication, “Boston Dyed Red,” in Domus Air International Aviation’s latest issue provides an insightful look into the addition, renovations and major upgrades at Logan International Airport’s Terminal E in Boston, Massachusetts. ? This article shares how the airport now offers an inclusive passenger experience and specialized energy efficient features, demonstrating a strong commitment to the passenger’s needs, sustainability and resiliency. The project charts a path to net-zero emissions and incorporates design features aimed at achieving LEED Platinum certification. The terminal combines highly efficient building envelopes with a comprehensive heating and cooling strategy, significantly reducing energy consumption and the operational energy footprint. ? The project included 320,000 square feet of new terminal construction and 70,000 square feet of renovation, seamlessly integrating the old and new. In addition to these improvements, a central design feature of the project is the prismatic red paint on the roof, which changes color depending on the light. This unique element was created specifically for this transformative project, designed in association with luis vidal + architects and built by Suffolk Construction. ?
