Did you know that the demand for food will double by 2050? Our CEO Thomas G. Schmidt and Barbara Taudorf Andersen will be in Folkem?det this week to discuss how to produce enough protein to feed the growing world population in the coming decades. Without giving too much away, we can share a few thoughts with you about what will be needed: ?? Selecting the proteins that the world needs most – for example, high-quality milk proteins. ?? Developing the best technologies to produce proteins via fermentation on an industrial scale – luckily, that's already being done in Denmark – guess who's on it! ???? Feedstock for fermentation, produced by Danish farmers. The microbes eat various forms of carbon in the fermentation tanks to make protein. And it would be great that: ?? Denmark supports the establishment of the first factories in Denmark, so Danish businesses can take part in a huge business adventure. Alternatively, the first factories will be established in the US, the Middle East and Asia, using Danish technology. ?? The EU and the Danish state ensure that proteins produced with fermentation technology are approved for food in Europe – quickly. Representative of the Danish democratic ambitions, #Folkem?det ('the People's Meeting') is a unique festival where citizens, decision-makers, NGOs and businesses gather to discuss, debate, share ideas and promote cooperation. Meet us in the DI corner (Thursday) and Bioscenen (Friday) – or reach out to Thomas and Barbara for a chat. #biosolutions #food #biotechnology
Will we see you at Folkem?det? We are looking forward to hosting enlightening talks, interesting debates, and entertaining events at Bioscenen together with our partners from Alliance for Biosolutions, Novo Nordisk Foundation and European Biosolutions Coalition. Swing by Bioscenen at G10 or Bioloungen at G19 to learn more about how companies as 21st.BIO can help save our planet ?? ??

Hi everybody! Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting a panel at this years CIC organized by CLIB - Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie. The discussion was dealing with biomanufacturing. The big question the experts were discussing: how can we extend biomanufacturing Europe-wide? Ute Schick from Evonik, Mary McCarthy from Soffinova, Mariagiovanna Vetere from NatureWorks, Max Kroymann from BMWK and Juergen Eck (Ph.D.) from bio.IMPACT concluded: 1) we should go for public-private partnerships for funding the new plants. 2) We should be more self confident in Europe. Why? Because we are great in what we do! 3) let us harmonize regulations globally. 4) increase public acceptance, also with more innovative education. 5) finally we said: impact comes with scale! Was a great event! Thanks for organizing!

As I prepared for last evening's CvilleBioHub Monthly Speaker Series, I was slightly stunned to realize I've now been planning conferences and events for exactly 20 years. Early on I learned that there is no way to eliminate uncertainty and stress from live events, but it is critical to maintain the proper dopamine to cortisol ratio among staff and volunteers. An approach that has served me well is, as a manager, not to be the source of the cortisol.

And that’s a #VicBioCon24 wrap ?? As is evidenced by the photo below, our team thoroughly enjoyed the conference and all the opportunities it provided for learning and networking in the Victorian biodiversity space. We asked our team for their key takeouts from the three-day programme: ?? It comes as no surprise that there is some fabulous biodiversity and conservation research coming out of our Victorian universities ?? Kangaroo translocation simply doesn’t work; mortality rates are very high and homing dispersal rates (animals leaving the translocation site seeking to return to their original location) are even higher ?? Rebuilding Australia’s lost shellfish reefs is very successful, while it is rather slow, and a multi-step process the results are really positive ?? The state-of-the-art research programs occurring in our Australian alpine environments is very impressive and will likely prove pivotal to the analysis of plant responses to climate extremes Huge thanks (and well done) to Deakin University and the team behind this event ?? Umwelt Environmental & Social Consultants is eager to continue being at the forefront of biodiversity across the nation. Keep an eye on big things coming in this space for our Victorian team ?? #UmweltAustralia #environment #sustainability #ecology
Congratulations to the organisers and all those who presented and went to the #vicbiocon24 Fabulous conference with some fantastic research being presented from across the state of VIC. It was a highlight in itself catching up with familiar faces not seen for a long time (Justin Sullivan Brad Farmilo Teisha Lay Amanda Dodd ) as well as colleagues Allison Riley Jacinta Harrison Lee O'Shea Jade Philipson
