Okay, I've been working on TikTok ads for more than 2 years now and this is huge because TikTok just launched Search Ads Campaigns in the U.S.! Now brands can target their audience directly on TikTok’s search results page. ?? This is such a relief to businesses. Earlier, ads on TikTok’s search were pretty basic and all over the place. But now, they have much more improved targeting, making it way more relevant. ?? Why should we care? Well, apparently 57% of the users are using TikTok to search for stuff, which means TikTok is creeping into Google and Amazon's territory! Although it does feel like its a major issue to Amazon than Google. ? What does this mean for brands? TikTok's tests show that combining Search Ads with In-Feed Ads boosts conversions by 20%. So even if you ignore an ad at first, TikTok’s search ads could still grab your attention later. Smart, right? Amazon Advertising is over-optimized for the bottom of the funnel. When everything is about ROAS and other metrics based on last touch attribution, you stop trying to build your brand with top of funnel content. This is what's happened to Amazon brands. You could make a killing in 2016 with bottom of funnel search ads, so everyone optimized there. Now that competition and PPC costs have skyrocketed, it's simply not the opportunity it once was. Yet brands still over-index on ROAS, TACOS, and ACOS. TikTok is where Amazon was 10 years ago. That's assuming that they don't get banned in a couple of weeks. Here's why: When you have capital, you can simply pay to get visibility. That’s how it works on Amazon today. Want to be at the top of the search? Bid higher. Big brands with deep pockets dominate because they can afford to spend. But if you’re a small brand without the same ad budget, you need a different strategy. TikTok is where you have a chance to win. You’ve got an amazing product. Cool. But you don’t have a million-dollar marketing budget. So what do you do? You seed influencers. Send your product to 200 creators. Maybe they post, maybe they don’t. But if just a handful of them share it, and one post goes viral, you’re in the game. This is how small brands create massive buzz without burning through cash. That TikTok buzz doesn’t just live on TikTok. It drives people to Amazon. They see the product, search for it, and buy it there. Then, THOSE sales help your product rank better organically on Amazon.
