Recently, someone I know reached out after seeing my post about rejoining iOCO (which they still referred to as EOH). Their comment was, “I see you’re back at EOH. Why did you go back?” I explained that it’s a great company. Their response caught me off guard: “Great is a strong word.”
This sparked some deep reflection on what truly makes a company great, good, or even bad. It’s easy to appear good when everything is going well—success often masks flaws. But the true character of an organization is revealed in how it handles challenges, adversity, and setbacks.
Is iOCO perfect? No. But then, is any company perfect? Perfection is unattainable, but excellence lies in addressing challenges (Vince Lombardi). While no company can operate flawlessly 100% of the time, what defines greatness is the ability to tackle challenges with integrity, transparency, and purpose. It’s about resolving issues in a way that reflects the organization’s values and ensures progress. In that sense, iOCO doesn’t just meet the mark of being a great company—it surpasses it. I’d say it’s a phenomenal company, not because it’s perfect, but because it’s filled with phenomenal people who rise to the occasion, innovate, and collaborate in the face of challenges.
We live in an age where negativity and criticism often dominate conversations. It’s easy to dwell on what’s wrong, but what if we focused on celebrating excellence? With that in mind, I’ve decided to start a new habit: sharing one positive post a week. Whether it’s about the exceptional people I work with, the inspiring projects I’m part of, or the lessons learned along the way.
The truth is, positivity is contagious, and the more we share it, the more it spreads. And while challenges will always exist, how we respond to them—individually and collectively—is what defines us. Here’s to choosing positivity, celebrating excellence, and working with people who make a difference. Let’s make the good excellent.
