As Organic September comes to a close, we’ve shone a light on every part of the supply chain that makes organic possible—from our dedicated farmers to innovative retailers. For over 50 years, the UK organic sector has grown through passion and commitment, but it’s the grassroots community that truly drives us forward. As consumer demand continues to rise, now is the time for businesses to step up. Initiatives like the Organic Tap Takeover in hospitality and showcasing organic products in retail are perfect examples of how every action counts in building a sustainable future. Even as September ends, our work is far from over. Let’s continue to support our organic producers, strengthen our community, and keep the momentum going. You might buy tea online, searching for tea suppliers whose tea is certified organic and think that's all there is to it to find good tea. But the tea from an online tea store or supermarket shelf, whatever the certification, could come from vast industrial plantations whose main concern is the marketing potential rather than environmental sustainability or regeneration. A lot of what is marketed and stamped as green is essentially “green-washing”. A stamp is not always the whole answer. We want to go beyond words, beyond organic, beyond sustaining a world in environmental crisis to support farmers who are seeking to create a bountiful future. ??
