I often hear training suggested as THE solution. And while sometimes training is often a key piece, it is rarely that simple. You need to have accountability practices surrounding and supporting any training initiative - personal or organizational! ? Being accountable to giving your full attention in training ? Being accountable to sharing your perspective and learnings with others ? Being accountable to applying what you learn ? Being accountable to doing the work that it takes to make the change

Been thinking about how to make training as impactful as possible and it has occurred to me that a key function of our live sessions is to encourage, motivate and reassure colleagues to go out there and give the things we talk about, a go. Ultimately, we can give people knowledge but without the confidence to apply it then it is wasted. Just like when any learning happens, we need to allow mistakes to happen before trying again and not let these mistakes stop us in our tracks. This is a key message to make explicit, particularly to managers who may feel vulnerable in making mistakes in front of their teams. Embrace it and recognise what a great example it can be to your team members as you model how to handle it. To steal part of a phrase from James Clear "Some knowledge is only revealed through action". Set your expectation that your learning won't stop at the end of the session but it may give you the confidence to give things a try.
