“Getting a seat at the table is not enough,” said Jean Lau Chin, EdD, the first Asian American psychologist to be licensed in Massachusetts and a pioneer in advocating for more diversity in leadership, during her 2016 TEDx Talk. “It’s time for women and diverse leaders to be at the head of the table if we’re going to have a future moving forward together.” The truth is that representation matters. But true impact comes when women are not just present—they lead the conversation, make decisions, and drive change. In a world that’s evolving rapidly, women's leadership isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a necessity for sustainable progress. Women bring unique perspectives, empathy, and resilience to the table, qualities that are critical to solving complex global challenges. Whether running a company, managing a team, or navigating your career path, your leadership is vital to shaping the future. Now is the time for women to step up, support one another, and break the ceiling once and for all. Last night our CEO Viviane Paxinos hosted a conversation with Edwina Dunn OBE, a leader in the data industry, author of 'When She’s?In?The?Room' and Founder of The Female Lead. Edwina shared how unlocking women's potential can change the course of business, economies, and communities for the better. Here are one of our attendees Jessica Compton's takeaways from the event: ?? Women are not a 'nice to have' in the workplace, nor are they a minority in society. This deserves greater recognition and businesses should see the opportunity to transform through the power that women can bring. ?? Know yourself and tell your story. Understand your skillset, emotional drivers, qualities you admire, role models, the life you want, etc. Leverage this to move forward, back yourself, and be proud. ?? "Don't diminish yourself, because it diminishes all of us". Edwina referenced this as one of the most important lessons from her career. Stop self-effacing, recognise the hard work and effort that has gone in to get you to this point and share that. Tilt your language to be loud and proud. Themes for this year: Inspire inclusion, and celebrate the women who advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. As someone who: ?? Raised and is raising strong accomplished young women ?? Invests in multiple ways to rise other women up ?? Launched Leap Consulting Solutions leveraging my platform to support women through things like #womencrushwednesday celebrating women in our industry ?? Co-authored Together We Rise (along with 14 other female Lady Leaders in the staffing industry) where I recount pivotal moments in my life and struggles to rise up and stand out in an industry with few women at its highest ranks… ?? Created "THE PLEDGE" : "One deliberate act a day to help another woman rise." I understand first-hand how important it is to celebrate the strides made by women who are paving the way for those who follow. I remain committed to sharing stories that inspire, encourage and support other women and all allies to rise up the underrepresented.
