Why a picture of dirt? And how does this relate to sustainability. If you have a home compost this is what you are making. If you have fiber based packaging why not recycle and make into a new container? Do not compost either at home or industrial. By doing this you keep the lifecycle going. This makes new pulp which makes new paperboard which makes a new carton. The cycle does not have to stop. All other compostable materials besides fiber have to go into an Industrial Facility or a home facility. NO BLUE BIN. #onthecase #sustainabilitycasepaper #casepaperco

In recent years, the perception that more layers in a plastic water storage tank automatically means better quality has gained traction. This notion, however, is far from accurate. As someone who has closely observed both the market and our own product evolution at Astral, I feel it’s important to offer some clarity on this issue. After all, informed consumers make better choices and better choices lead to long-term satisfaction. The idea of "more layers, more strength" has a certain appeal—it’s easy to digest and seems logical at first glance. But let’s take a step back and examine the actual factors that determine the quality and durability of a tank. 1. Material Quality is Key A tank made from high-quality plastic, with the right additives to resist UV radiation and prevent degradation, will always outperform a tank made from inferior materials, regardless of how many layers it has. The focus should be on what the layers are made of, not how many there are. 2. Manufacturing Process Defines Strength The strength of any tank comes largely from how it’s made, not from the number of layers. A well-moulded tank with consistent wall thickness and a properly managed cooling process will last longer and resist external stresses better. In contrast, a multi-layer tank with uneven walls can develop weak spots over time. 3. Layers Serve Specific Functions But Don’t Guarantee Strength Each layer in a tank is typically engineered for a specific purpose. One layer might offer UV protection, another insulation, and so on. More layers don’t necessarily equal more strength if the materials or design are lacking. So, while layers have their role, they aren’t a direct indicator of overall durability. 4. Thickness and Uniformity Win Over Layering The real game-changer is thickness combined with uniformity. A tank with a single, thick, evenly moulded wall can outperform a multi-layered tank with thinner walls. This uniformity across the structure is what ensures resilience, especially in key stress areas like the base or joints. I think, let’s encourage everyone to ask the right questions. Look beyond a bit and focus on what makes a tank last—quality of material, precision in manufacturing, and design integrity. ?? As the global engineered wood industry continues to expand its eco-friendly practices, the circular benefits of wood are well documented. But what about adhesives and bonding agents such as #glues? Wood-based panels have a history of containing harmful glues that cannot be burned, chipped or ground for reuse in an ecological manner. A viable solution is #bioadhesives – bonding agents that breaks down in an environmentally safe manner. Yet only 5% or less of engineered wood manufacturers have made the switch.
