Juggling a dozen tasks at once??, trying to convince everyone in the office to hop on board the sustainability train? I've been there, my friend. It's tough being the messenger, especially when it means asking your colleagues to squeeze in more work on top of their already busy schedules. I mean, it’s not like everyone jumps up whenever they see you and ask ‘what’s more for us to work on?’ ?? But guess what? You're not alone. Let me tell you a little secret from my own journey. When I started out, I was overwhelmed, unsure of how to navigate the challenges ahead. That's when I turned to coaches who became my guiding lights, showing me the ropes and helping me find my way. They provided direction, insight, and a fresh perspective that transformed my approach. Suddenly, the journey seemed less daunting, more like an exciting adventure waiting to unfold ??♀?. So, if you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck in your role as a sustainability manager, don't hesitate to reach out for support. It’s not showing your weakness but your strength. Trust me, it can make a world of difference. #sustainabilitymanager #outsourcingcso #csrleadership #csrmanagement #outsourcedsustainability

This week’s #wisdomwednesday statement continues the theme of sustainability. An important element of the Operational Excellence management system is to ensure sustainability. When making changes within an organization, it is important to understand if the change is going to improve business outcomes or is the change just to make a localized improvement which has no effect on business outcomes. In my experience, I have also seen changes that we call verschlimmbessern. Verschlimmbessern is a German word which means, making something worse while intending to make it better. This usually happens when we make a change, and we don’t understand the full effect of the change we are making on the organization, thus creating negative effects on the organizational performance. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand the full effect of any change on the organizational performance. Then, once the change is made, it is just as important to ensure that the change is sustainable. Sustainability is extremely difficult because it usually involves changing people’s behavior. There are many techniques that we use at Future State Engineering to sustain changes. I help business leaders solve sustainability challenges | 20+ years business and sustainability experience | Sustainability and energy nerd | Top 40 under 40
Do dog walks trigger your intellect? Mine do. As sustainability evolves, changes, tightens and marches on, I reflected last night on some of the basics. Here are three ways to consider strengthening your corporate sustainability adoption: 1. Think long term ?? Sustainability is about the long game ?? There will be tension between short term profits and long term sustainability - accept this ?? The challenge, and opportunity, is building a value proposition that balances profit, people and planet 2. It requires education and change management ?? Internal and external stakeholders need to understand what it is and how it is being applied ?? Sustainability is a broad concept without context ?? Change requires new thinking, new systems and can be overwhelming - change management coaching can help build resilience 3. Engage boots on the ground or front line workers before you set strategy ?? Front line workers or boots on the ground?are integral to your operations and success ?? Engage them early and often - create champions and feedback loops ?? Allow risks and opportunities to flow through seamlessly to executive decision makers There is lots to think about as you consider sustainability adoption and I'm scratching the surface. It always helps to hit pause and reflect, especially when things feel chaotic. This is our dog, Jesy, admiring the view in the fall in our beautiful rocky mountains backyard. I imagine she is thinking about sustainability, or squirrels, maybe both! Reach out anytime to Modern West for guidance - we'd love to hear about your challenges. #sustainability #backtobasics #longterm #changemanagement #operations

On a mission - help good people do great things ? Coach | Growth | Strategy | Leader ? Follow for posts about business, health, wealth and happiness
Busy chasing greener grass? But what if you’ve been standing on it all along... Everyone's always talking about red flags in company culture. ?? But what about the green flags? ?? Sure, we’re quick to spot the problems: bad communication, no transparency, toxic vibes. But what about the good signs that show your work is actually getting it right? Some things to look for: 1?? Real Transparency: When leadership is upfront about where the company’s heading, what's going wrong, and what’s working, you're in a healthy place. They keep you in the loop, and that builds trust. 2?? Stress + Rest = Growth: If your company cares about balance, mental health, and making sure you take time out, they see you as more than just a worker. They value you. 3?? Growth Opportunities: A company that invests in your future—training, mentorship, and career moves—values you long-term. You're not just a cog in their machine. 4?? True Inclusion: If everyone’s voice is heard, no matter their background. It’s more than just a buzzword. 5?? Recognition: When your hard work is noticed and celebrated, it shows you’re valued. Simple acknowledgments mean a lot. 6?? Open Communication: If you can talk to your manager, HR, or even the CEO without fear, that’s a big green flag. 7?? Strong Community: When you look forward to seeing the people you work with, that’s a sign of a healthy culture. Team spirit matters to most. 8?? Flexibility and Trust: If your company trusts you to manage your time and work in a way that suits you, you’re in a place that respects your autonomy. 9?? Leaders Who Listen: If your leaders seek out feedback and actually act on it, you’ve found something rare. It’s a big deal when leadership values your input. ?? Shared Vision and Values: When everyone is on the same page about the mission and values, it shows a culture that’s aligned and moving forward together. Why do these green flags matter? They signal respect, support, and value – a place where you can actually do your best work and grow. Take a look around - seeing these green flags in your workplace? If not, maybe it’s time to rethink where you’re putting your energy. ?? Like ?? Comment ?? Repost this ? Follow me Kevin Banks for more posts on health, wealth and happiness :o)

Waste-LESS is a Mindset .... Most businesses have a wasteFUL mindset. ??? Overconsume materials ('what if we run out') ??? Work linear (take - make - waste) rather than circular ??? Value competition - ('if they have more, I will have less') (life isn't pie ??) A wasteFUL mindset is costly, siloed and dangerous for the planet. AND some. If you're wasteful with resources, you're probably wasting elsewhere, too. Consider ??? Wasted time: Unnecessary meetings, clunky processes. ??? Untapped talent or opportunities: The employees you didn't promote who left, the skills you went without to 'save money' ??? Depleted well-being: of overworked and stressed employees. It's ALL waste. AND all are part of the same mindset. Adopting a Waste-LESS mentality, however, works to reduce all forms of waste. WasteLESS can mean: Less materials. Less costs. More time. More effectiveness. Happier staff. Better Retention. Dont just tackle what's in the bins. If you want to explore a fully ‘Waste Less’ mindset, there is a free exercise and facilitator guide in the comments. ?? Access the guide in the comments #sustainability #corporatesustainability#sustainablestrategy
