As a company headquartered in North Carolina, we are heartbroken by the historic devastation of our western counties by Hurricane Helene. Despite heroic efforts by first responders, the National Guard, utility crews and relief workers, the hardest hit communities still remain cut off, with gas, food, water, electricity and cellular service difficult if not impossible to obtain. Many communities in Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida have also endured terrible destruction. While our sites were spared, we will all know colleagues, friends, family, neighbors and clients who are impacted. In the face of such a disaster and suffering, it’s hard to know the best course of action and support. But by pulling together, we can make a difference. We urge you to consider joining Alcami in donating to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund to help our neighbors in their long recovery. Or, if you already have a relationship with a reputable non-profit that you trust to carry out relief services, donate directly to them or consider the American Red Cross or Salvation Army. Hurricane Helene update: As of Sunday afternoon, we have deployed one shower trailer to Suwanee County, FL and we are preparing to deploy ShowerTrailer-5 and?LaundryTrailer-2 to?North Carolina. Operations are expected to last beyond 90 days and we are tentatively planning to be in the Ashville, Waynesville, or Cherokee areas. Your support is vital to getting us there, setting and sustaining operations, and getting home. The cost of delivery averages between $4500 - $5000 per trailer, round trip. As part of our mission, we do not charge non-profit partner organizations utilizing the trailers when donations offset those delivery costs.??Please consider providing shower and laundry support for impacted communities. This will be our 4th disaster response in 2024, with the potential for another major storm that could impact Texas, Louisiana, and Florida already developing in the Gulf.

The devastation from Hurricane Helene throughout the Upstate of SC and Western NC is truly hard to comprehend. Flooding, fallen trees, damaged homes, and widespread power outages have left countless communities in crisis. This weekend, I spent time in community—feeling, dancing, singing, and grieving together while authentically discussing how we can show up in times of need. An essential step in helping is allowing the devastation to move you. Put yourself in the shoes of those facing unimaginable loss and destruction. Feel it deeply, and let that feeling inspire you to take action. What’s your best way to contribute? Hands-on volunteering, dropping off supplies to those leading recovery efforts, making financial donations, or offering prayers? How can you serve and uplift our fellow neighbors? The storm that hit the Western North Carolina area is mindboggling. So many people have suffered unfathomable loss. Homes and vehicles are destroyed, land wiped out, and businesses leveled. The loss of life is heartbreaking. The resilience and faith of our community is inspiring. Everyone I speak with begins the conversation with immense gratitude followed quickly by compassion and care. These difficult situations remind us that togetherness matters; even between those who are oceans apart in life perspective. 99% of what I have witnessed online has been supportive and loving, and there will always be the 1% who prey on these situations to drive divisiveness. Modeling non-reaction to the 1% is a practice. And doing so frees up the mental and heart capacity to focus on what and who truly matter. As the days pass, the media will lose interest in this event. Probably healthy for all as life does move forward. But please remember that it will be months of recovery. Please keep people in your prayers, stay close to friends and family you know in the area, and if you're able, donate time, talent, and treasure to support the recovery. In the wake of Hurricanes #Helene and #Milton, HCA Florida Healthcare announced today a contribution of $750,000 to community organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of those impacted throughout Florida. This gift provides $250,000 to United Way of Florida, $250,000 to Volunteer Florida Disaster Fund, and a $250,000 special match for gifts made by HCA Healthcare colleagues to United Way of Florida, the American Red Cross and the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund—the company’s colleague-run, colleague-supported 501(c)3 charity benefiting its colleagues and their immediate families affected by financial hardship. “The impact of these disasters has been overwhelming for our colleagues and communities in Florida,” said Joanne Pulles, vice president of community engagement at HCA Healthcare. “Yet, our teams have responded with incredible diligence, sacrifice and care to contribute to the health and safety of our communities. While we continue to provide care to the more than 8.6 million Floridians who trust us with their health, these gifts—and the deepened organizational collaboration they can spark—are another way we can contribute to helping our communities recover and rebuild.” HCA Healthcare employs more than 79,000 colleagues across Florida. Wherever you are in the world, we need to help these folks. I donated yesterday to Ryan Hall Y'all who is matching donations. They are doing what they can to bring in helicopters and trucks. (where accessible roads are still existing). Each of us needs to be promoting hope for these folks. The devastation is record-breaking. North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida were all devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helen. The media is quiet. Let's please come together to bring supplies to them in their desperate time of need. Typically I would not reach out and ask for this. LinkedIn is about business. It's about organizational growth. However, right now these folks need our help. We need to do all that we can to support them in any way that is within our means. There are over 100 people who have been killed. Thousands more missing. They are about to get hit by another storm that appears to be on target for the same path through these states.
