"National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day gives us an opportunity to mourn those who have been lost. It is also a time to reflect on the lives of our unhoused neighbors who are fighting to survive. There are thousands of people across the country hoping that this will be the day, the week, or the year that they can be off the streets and in a place of their own." -National Alliance to End Homelessness We hope you will take a moment today to remember and honor all of our neighbors affected by homelessness, especially those who did not survive 2024. Homelessness is solvable - we will continue to work towards a future in which it does not exist. Read the full reflection from the NAEH using the link below. https://buff.ly/3P6I45N

Today is World Homeless Day ?? A day when we can come together to raise awareness of homelessness, globally, and in our communities. Every October, we promote World Homeless Day (as part of World Homeless Week) with the goal of spreading awareness and empowering each of us to take action. It is a time to reflect on the challenges individuals and families face without a stable place to call home. A challenge faced by over 300,000 people in England alone. Our guide ‘How to Help Homeless People’ is available to download now, offering practical tips and advice on how to get involved and make a positive impact on the lives of homeless people. Check out this video as it illustrates the various forces that drive people into homelessness and shows the exceptional work Housing Forward and the All Neighbors Coalition (comprised of 150+ organizations/companies) are doing to help our homeless neighbors move to a place they can call home. Since overhauling the homelessness response system in 2021, the All Neighbors Coalition has rehoused more than 10,100 people in Dallas and Collin counties - a 24% reduction in unsheltered homelessness. The strategy is having significant impact! There is more work to do, and each of us can contribute to the effort to make a difference in our community. https://lnkd.in/gpF4qkVg

Life is a tapestry woven from a series of moments and decisions, some conscious and others shaped by circumstances beyond our control. Each choice we make, whether we realize it or not, propels us along a unique path—sometimes leading us to places of joy and fulfillment, while at other times, to seemingly insurmountable challenges. As a sociologist, I often ponder the social dynamics that contribute to the painful reality of familial disconnection, particularly in the case of individuals who find themselves homeless. What drives a family to forget a loved one who, through a series of unfortunate events, ends up living on the streets? It’s a complex interplay of societal pressures, stigma, and the often-invisible barriers that separate us from those we care about. Many factors come into play: mental health issues, addiction, economic hardship, and systemic failures can alienate individuals, creating a chasm that feels impossible to bridge. Families might grapple with shame, fear, or a sense of helplessness, leading them to distance themselves rather than offer support. In the end, these moments of decision—whether to reach out or withdraw—can have lasting implications, shaping lives and relationships in profound ways. Recognizing the humanity in each moment and decision is crucial. It reminds us of our shared responsibility to foster connection and compassion, especially for those on the margins of society. Thank you to all that dedicated their lifes to make sure no one is forgotten when alive Associa??o CAIS ????
While we walked 150km in 5 days to the Olympics in Paris for 150 million homeless people, my son learned about life and death along his journey through the French countryside. He found a dead hare that still looked alive on the side of the road and his heart was broken. I stopped to console him and let him know that death was a part of life and we must learn how to celebrate life while we are alive as well as death when others pass. Some homeless people are remembered when they die, but forgotten while they live, and many go unnoticed in life and death. We must do better as a society to celebrate both moments as we strive to end homelessness. In honor of the hare’s life and all of the homeless people who do not receive the love and respect they deserve in life and death, we symbolically placed a flower over it. As professionals, we need to learn how to educate our children through nature to make our cities a better place to live in. #HomelessEntrepreneur #TheGreatWalk

Today is World Homeless Day: around 895,000 people in Europe live on the streets. Behind every number, there is a person with a story and the right to a dignified life. As a beverage company, we at fritz-kola see it as our responsibility to act. More than 1 million people in Germany collect empty bottles in order to earn a little extra. With our initiative “Every bottle helps”, we want to draw attention to the reality of life for deposit collectors. It is our vision to create a social movement within society and to strengthen the voice of deposit collectors. Homelessness is a complex problem that requires new solutions. That is why we support concepts such as Housing First to combat homelessness. Big changes often start small. Every friendly gesture and every bottle of deposit placed next to the trash can make a homeless person's day a little better. Let's use World Homeless Day to take action and fight homelessness. ???? #humanrights #poverty #depositbelongsbeside

11/23 6:15 pm PST update: Issaquah still without power n r freezing cold on our mountain. 4+ days. Monday, 11/25 for power restoration is our current eta. Imagine Housing - who owns and oversees Rosecrest Apts. along with other low income housing properties throughout East King County, touts their commitment to keep their tenants housed, stable n safe, and for tenants to always reach out in emergency situations. Notta word from them during this devastating Bomb Cyclone that recently hit their multiple properties. Yet they are still somehow able to actively promote their 'community efforts and contributions' during this time. Um, to whom? Imagine Housing continues to neglect/ignore their properties/tenants who reach out in dire need. Past and present. Most importantly, COVID. And now THIS.

November is Homelessness Awareness Month, a time to step back and recognize the reality that homelessness can happen to anyone. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes, it takes only one unexpected turn to find ourselves in situations we never imagined. It’s not that people don’t care, but that homelessness can be a hard issue to look at closely—it’s often easier to compartmentalize or look away from something that stirs up so many emotions. Whether you’re a policymaker, a community leader, or a concerned neighbor, this month invites each of us to take a moment and face the complexity of homelessness. It’s not just about a lack of housing; it’s about support systems, opportunities, and our shared responsibility to build sustainable solutions. This November, consider reaching out to your local agencies or Continuum of Care (CoC) organizations. Ask how you can learn more, advocate, or volunteer.
The Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition extends its sincere thanks to Governor Laura Kelly for proclaiming November as Homelessness Awareness Month in Kansas. This recognition emphasizes the importance of raising awareness around homelessness and strengthening our commitment to those impacted across our state. Homelessness Awareness Month isn’t just about statistics; it’s about the real stories and struggles that Kansans experiencing homelessness face every day. This proclamation serves as a powerful reminder that we, as a community, can come together to create lasting change by supporting meaningful solutions. Throughout November, let’s elevate the voices of individuals with lived experience, learn more about the challenges of homelessness, and explore how each of us can make a difference. Together, we can work toward a future where every Kansan has a safe, stable place to call home. Thank you, Governor Kelly, for your leadership and commitment.
