Our biggest mistake in the startup journey: We are at 100+ customers & forgot to hire a customer success manager! Customer Success as a function has always been the closest to my heart. I kept doing it myself till I now realize that I am not able to give it enough time. I love talking to my customers & helping them wherever our product or service falls short. But, we are now setting up a team of ninjas who have insane customer empathy and are willing to go above & beyond for customers to derive the most out of our service. Unfortunately, most people think customer success is about: - listening to the complaints of unhappy customers - try to get their clients to renew or expand - anchor weekly calls While these are small parts of the role, but the best customer success is about helping customers unlock the max value out of a product or a service. A customer success manager is able to understand the exact limitations of the product & know exactly where it would fall short of a particular customer. If you do this well, all other metrics follow. I am hiring the first 4 customer success managers for Gush. This is a high ownership role & you will be working closely with the founding team. Here’s a snapshot of my day: ?? 7:30 AM - School Drop-Off & Morning Routine I start my day with school drop-off for my nearly 8-year-old son, ensuring he’s ready for the day before diving into work. ?? 8:30 AM - Team Sync On the go, I dial into our daily team stand-up. We align on priorities, share account updates, and celebrate wins. The flexibility of being remote-first keeps us connected, no matter where we are. ?? 9:30 AM - Demos & Discovery Calls I spend the next few hours engaging with prospects, discovering their HR needs, and demonstrating how Employment Hero can help. It’s all about building relationships and finding the right solution. ?? 12:00 PM - Lunch & Recharge Lunch is a chance to recharge, take a walk, and clear my head before jumping back into the afternoon’s tasks. ?? 1:00 PM - Proposal & Follow-Ups I focus on following up with active leads and preparing proposals for clients ready to move forward. ?? 3:00 PM - CRM & Reporting I update my CRM, track progress on deals, and make sure my pipeline is on track to hit my targets. ?? 4:00 PM - Strategic Outreach I end the day reaching out to new leads, sending personalized emails and LinkedIn messages to build relationships. ?? 5:30 PM - Reflect & Set Up for Tomorrow Before signing off, I reflect on the day’s wins and set up goals for tomorrow to stay organized and focused.
