#BusterOlney posted this "Within other organizations, there is a lot of disgust with how the A’s have handled the ballpark situation — especially when there’s no actual ballpark plan settled in #LasVegas. And there is an assumption the A’s will tank in the next few years, because their #revenuestream will be down to a trickle. 'This makes us all look bad,' said one person." Lets be honest the Oakland Athletics would not be in this situation if it wasn't for these so called "other organizations." They unanimously #approved #Vegas without a legitimate plan for #JohnFisher and #DaveKaval. Also, it is not like Fisher has not relied on "revenue sharing," signed their top prospects to long-term deals, or done anything to continue to keep the A's competitive when the franchise started winning. So who has enabled the #Athletics? Those who are now complaining about a team that is willing to play for at minimum in a #minorleagueballpark for three seasons, possibly more while a nonexistent stadium in another state may not even come to fruition. While completing ignoring that the city of #Oakland finally stood ground against the A's. Got nearly $1 billion in funding to build a ballpark at #HowardTerminal. We're not buying what other organizations are saying Buster. Then again it is also sad said person could not put a name to their face for when they said "this makes us all look bad." Sorry but Major League Baseball (MLB) and owners have looked bad for a long time when it comes to the situation regarding Oakland. Funny thing is this all could have been avoided if #MLB had a #legitimateleadership and a #competent #commissioner.

Wyc Grousbeck bought the team for $360 million in 2002 and just delivered the franchise’s second championship during his tenure—a league-record 18th title. As the NBA continues to reach new heights, it makes Grousbeck’s entry seem almost clairvoyant. The league is reportedly negotiating a new media rights package that amounts to $76 billion in fees over 11 years, more than double its previous annual rate, while basketball continues expand globally and captivate fans in overseas markets. A recent survey by S&P Global Intelligence reported that 52% of online adults in China watch NBA games, as well as two-thirds of basketball viewers in France and Italy.

Boston Celtics sale: Owner Wyc Grousbeck planning to sell after 2024 National Basketball Association (NBA) title, team valued at nearly $5 billion. The Boston Celtics, valued at $4.7 billion last year, just secured their 18th championship against the Dallas Mavericks. Their owner, Wyc Grousbeck, wants to sell his majority stake in the team. Grousbeck, who led the Boston Basketball Partners, originally purchased the team in 2002. Under his leadership, the team celebrated its first NBA championship in 2008. The Celtics have announced that a sale is expected either by the end of 2024 or early 2025 and Grousbeck will continue as the team's owner until a sale is finalized in 2028. The Celtics, a cornerstone of the NBA, have a rich history and are often considered one of the league's most valuable franchises. In 2023, Forbes valued them at $4.7 billion, placing them fourth in the league's valuation rankings, behind the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers. It's worth noting that Grousbeck purchased the team 22 years ago for a mere $360 million. Now, Grousbeck will join the group of NBA mainstays that have cashed out of the league in a reasonably short span. Soon, Boston will have hefty luxury tax payments coming, and they may limit their flexibility to improve the roster, given the constraints that come with the second apron.? I was invited to LeBron's basketball camp in high school, where the best players in the country gathered every summer. It was one of my first tastes of playing against top-level competition. Jalen Brunson, Devin Booker, and Deangelo Russell were just some of the guys in the room. At a gala, we took pictures with LeBron, and later, he spoke to us, opening up the floor for questions. I had prepared a few on my phone about basketball and his investments. When I stood up to ask, my table laughed, mocking my preparation. In many basketball spaces, questions aren’t encouraged; many just want to get through meetings rather than gain something from them. LeBron answered my questions thoughtfully, reinforcing the value of curiosity and preparation. He also reiterated the importance of not being just a basketball player and seeing yourself as an investor. This is evidenced by his major investments in Liverpool FC, Beats by Dre, and SpringHill Entertainment. Some might see asking questions as unnecessary, but it’s crucial for growth. Even the number two player in our class that year didn’t get drafted into the NBA, a reminder that success isn’t guaranteed. You’re never too cool to not know something. Admitting we don’t know something actually gives us more room to grow. What question would you have asked LeBron? #Basketball #NBA #Curiosity #Growth #LeBronJames #HighSchool #Competition #Courage #AskQuestions #BePresent #StayCurious #Learning #Success #Motivation #Inspiration #LifeLessons

Utah sports magnate Ryan Smith is publicly lobbying the NHL to add an expansion franchise in Salt Lake City. With the city's growth trajectory and Smith's extensive sports holdings, there's a compelling argument. - Smith owns the Utah Jazz (NBA) and co-owns Real Salt Lake (MLS) and Utah Royals (NWSL). He proposes building a new arena optimized for hockey. - Salt Lake City hosted 2023 NBA All-Star weekend and will likely get the 2034 Winter Olympics. It's bidding to be a temporary home for MLB's Oakland A's as part of an expansion push. - Utah was the fastest growing U.S. state in the 2020 census, with SLC drawing people in with tech jobs and relatively low costs compared to other big metro regions. - The NHL says it's not focused on expansion now but called SLC "a promising market," and will keep talking to Smith. Between its strong ownership group, winter sports infrastructure, and rapidly expanding population/economy, Salt Lake City checks numerous boxes for NHL expansion.

The Dominican Republic: a nation where the crack of a bat echoes the collective heartbeat of its people and where baseball is not just a pastime but a legacy. Let's take a closer look at why this vibrant country has become a juggernaut in the world of baseball. As a centerpiece of the local culture, baseball in the Dominican Republic is a phenomenal source of national pride. From humble beginnings to the floodlit stages of Major League success, generations of Dominicans have shared an enduring love for the game. Icons like Juan Marichal and Sammy Sosa are not merely athletes; they are national heroes, setting the bar for aspiring talents across the island. This small Caribbean gem has managed to create an enviable blueprint for cultivating baseball talent. Firstly, the national dedication to identifying and nurturing young prospects is unparalleled. Secondly, the rigorous training these athletes undergo is both exhaustive and exemplary - a system that has been refined over decades. Lastly, modern infrastructure, akin to those found in major league cities, solidifies the nation’s devotion to advancing the sport. What truly underscores the Dominican impact on baseball, however, is the unyielding commitment to excellence that pervades every aspect of the game. It's a narrative of triumph over adversity, where the ballfield serves as a microcosm of ambition and resilience. Here, baseball is far more than entertainment; it is an emblem of community strength and individual aspiration. In summation, the Dominican Republic stands as a beacon to the transformative power of sportsmanship and dedication. For those in business, let this be a lesson in the importance of nurturing talent, embracing community, and striving for excellence in all our endeavors.
