At what cost? And using what unit of measurement?
Our hearts go out to the ordinary men, women, and children whose lives are forever turned upside down by wars not of their own making. The human cost of war is unbearable.

As more communities turn to ballot measures to address critical issues that state legislatures have overlooked or deprioritized, they face pushback from lawmakers trying to complicate the process and maintain their power. At RWJF, we are committed to building a democracy that achieves health equity for everyone. One of the ways we're advancing this vision is by protecting the ballot measure process—an essential tool for a thriving democracy. ? I recently had the privilege of speaking with our partner, Chris Melody Fields Figueredo, Executive Director of the BISC Foundation, where they are helping organizations and funders understand how ballot measures build power and strengthen civic engagement. Discover how we can work together to create equitable systems by safeguarding this vital democratic process.

The 2025 Presidential Transition Project, known as Project 2025, is a “robust governing agenda” and authoritarian. It pushes hate and Christian nationalism and threatens civil rights, human rights and our democracy.? The America that Project 2025 wants to create would greatly enhance the executive branch’s powers and impose on all Americans policies favored by Christian nationalists regarding issues such as sexual health and reproductive rights, education, the family, and the role of religion in our society and government.? It would strip rights protections from LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, women, and people of color. It would dismantle much of the federal government and replace our apolitical civil service with far-right partisans. It would end attempts to enhance equity and racial justice throughout the government and shut down agencies that track progress on this front. Efforts to tackle issues such as climate change would be ended, and politicized research produced to back the project’s views on environmental policy, the evils of “transgenderism,” and women’s health would take priority. The alternative is to vote for Joe Biden and those who believe in and preserving the ideals of freedom and democracy that our country was built on.? Never forget the sacrifices that have been made by countless people throughout history, to fight against the evil of fascist authoritarians, and those advocating the policies in Project 2025. #Democrat #FightForDemocracy https://lnkd.in/gHhbzX2Q

Sensing the Need for Justice Justice can take on various forms depending on the context and the values of the society in which it is pursued. Here are some key variations of justice that might address the question of what "the right kind of justice" is: The "right" kind of justice often depends on the specific situation and the values of the community involved. Many advocates argue for a hybrid approach that incorporates elements from various types of justice to ensure a comprehensive and fair resolution. The goal should be to restore balance, promote healing, and foster a sense of fairness in society. #justice #Law #NewZealand #Shoplifting, #Bible, #God #PosieParker, #LGBTQ+ #Transgender

As we stand in solidarity with Black mothers, birthing individuals, and families, we recognize the urgent need to address the obstacles they face in accessing quality healthcare. In this journey of advocacy and empowerment, let's embrace the strength of community. Together, we can create a world where hope thrives, and every mother is treated with compassion and dignity. Let's go beyond words. This month, let's embody hope through concrete actions and unwavering commitments toward justice and reproductive healthcare.

Mark your calendars for March 8th for the launch of our new report, "Seeds of Change: Community Perspectives on Gender-Based Violence, Advocacy, and Action in Newfoundland and Labrador"! As we eagerly anticipate the big day, we're reflecting on the profound words shared by a dedicated community worker we spoke with during the development of this report. They said: ?? Together, we're amplifying voices, dismantling barriers, and paving the way for a future where gender-based violence is eradicated. ??? It's National Hispanic Heritage Month! Together we celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. ???????????????? Fact: The child welfare and juvenile justice systems impact children, families, and communities of color at disproportionate rates, and more must be done to address racial and ethnic disparities. System partners must engage people with lived experience and those living in communities heavily impacted by the child protection system to identify the root causes and develop solutions to address the causes of disparities which exist as a result of family separation policies and practices that result in life-long trauma to the children. This Sunday, May 5th, marks?an important?moment of reflection and action as we observe the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit peoples. It's a day to honor the lives of those who have been tragically lost, to stand in solidarity with their families and communities, and to recommit ourselves to seeking justice and change. The statistics are staggering and deeply troubling. Indigenous women and girls in the United States and Canada are disproportionately affected by violence, with rates of disappearance and homicide far exceeding those of other demographics. Yet, awareness and action on this issue remain insufficient. As we acknowledge this day, let us also recognize the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities. They have tirelessly advocated for justice, demanded accountability, and pushed for systemic changes to address the root causes of this crisis. We all have a role to play in this ongoing struggle. Whether it's advocating for policy reforms, supporting grassroots organizations, or amplifying the voices of Indigenous leaders, each of us can contribute to creating a safer and more just world for all. Let's use this day as an opportunity to educate ourselves, listen to and uplift Indigenous voices, and recommit to justice and healing. Together, we can honor the memory of those no longer with us and strive for a future where every person is valued, respected, and safe.?
