??Did You Know....?? Our donations are made possible because of the food rescue programs larger organizations like Midwest Food Bank manage so that we can feed our community. ?? Donated items come in the form of: Close-dated items: Products that are close to their expiration date and don't have enough time to reach store shelves. Overruns: Extra products made beyond what was forecasted, often cheaper to keep the production line running. Mislabeled items: Products with packaging errors, like missing ingredients or allergen information. Relabeling is too costly, but we have the volunteer resources to repack and relabel these items. Damaged or discontinued goods: Items with damaged packaging or products that are no longer sold in stores. -Midwest Food Bank: How Midwest Food Bank and Our Partners Fight Food Waste Together You can donate too! As we approach Thanksgiving, the food supply chain in particular is on our mind at RELEX Solutions. End of year is a time of feasting for many, but also a time when want is at its most evident. That’s why this November, we launch a campaign on LinkedIn: for every new follower we get (up to 5,000 followers), we donate 1 USD to Feeding America, a charity that makes it easier for people to get healthy food. Follow us on LinkedIn this November and gain fresh insights on food supply chain – and do good. #donation #supplychain #food?

Facing the choice between essentials like milk or electricity, eggs or medications, and even poultry or housing shouldn't be a reality for anyone. Yet, for 1 in 3 of our neighbors facing food insecurity across Massachusetts, these are some of the tough decisions they have to make daily. Thank?you to Esha Walia and Boston Globe Media for their recent article highlighting how grocery prices have surged 25% since 2019, forcing twice as many families to seek food assistance compared to pre-pandemic levels and making affording nutritious food more difficult than ever. That’s why GBFB exists. We are here to help and fuel the charitable food system that is responding to this chronic surge in food assistance need. With our purchasing power, we acquire and distribute healthy free food to our neighbors facing food insecurity through a robust network of 600 community partners. That means for every $1 you donate, 2 meals will be provided to a neighbor in need across the 190 cities and towns we serve. Together, we have the power to put healthy meals on our neighbors' tables and end hunger here. Check out The Boston Globe article mentioned to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dGYTWGFc

Food security remains a huge issue in New York City, especially as food costs have skyrocketed over the last several years. Unfortunately, many Brooklynites do not always know where their next meal will come from. At BCS, we’re working to feed Brooklyn with our New York Food for New York Families program. We also explore this issue further in our new blog post, which goes live later this week! Alex C and I come from similar worlds apart—the post-Soviet terrains of Russia and the now war-torn Donetsk region of Ukraine. Our childhoods were overshadowed by the pangs of food scarcity, a memory that now fuels our purpose at Zina's. I remember the lengths to which my parents went to provide for me amid widespread need. Their resilience inspired my vow when I joined Zina's over ten years ago, and ever since, we have chosen to annually contribute to the cause of helping end food insecurity. We have kept that promise, contributing annually. Now, as 2024 approaches, we're ready to broaden our impact and invite organizations aligned with our vision to join us. Our past is not just a story; it's our call to action. If your mission resonates with ours, or if you know a group that shares our passion for change, let's connect. Together, let's ensure our next steps leave a lasting footprint in the fight against hunger. #EndHungerNow #TogetherAgainstHunger
At Zina's, fighting food insecurity is personal. Many of our team members have witnessed its impact firsthand. In 2023, Zina's Fine Foods had the privilege of contributing to Table to Table remarkable effort to combat food insecurity. Our donation of 8,000 pounds of prepared foods and ingredients was part of a larger movement that provided meals to over 500,000 individuals. As we plan for an even greater impact next year, we invite your ideas and suggestions for future donations. #ZinasFineFoods #ZinasSalads #Zinas #ZinasCares #EndHunger #FoodDonation #MakeADifference #HelpingHands

I am proud of the work we're doing to help people who need food. Food insecurity is a condition, not a condemnation. We're changing the condition with Meals in the Meantime. - Kevin M. Yates, President & Founder #nonprofit #foodinsecurity #proud Like Comment Share

The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet the wealth inequity gap continues to widen, the middle class seems to be disappearing, the cost of living expense increases is outpacing rise in wages, and, and, and... the list goes on. All of these "ands" are creating multiple levels of insecurity-- food insecurity, housing insecurity, education insecurity, wage insecurity. I know several of my friends Christopher Morris, CUDE, CCUFC and Mark Volz, CUDE, CCM who continue to give of their resources and time at these food pantries in Madison. What if each of us were for 30 days to give up "something" that we enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, eating out weekly) and instead donate either that money or goods in kind to our local food pantries? And then once you have figured out that you can probably do without one or two things of small cost in your life, continue to donate that money! Or even maybe go a day without eating anything and provide the money equivalent of meals for that one day to food banks and pantries...and oh by the way it might give you a small "taste" of what it is like not to have food to eat and how that impacts you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Use the link below to see what the food insecurity looks like in your community. https://lnkd.in/e6HVa2GP FYI, In my small rural county in White County Tennessee, 16.3% of the population are food insecure- 4,480 people. #foodinsecurity #creditunions
It's been one week since a coalition of 36 Dane County food pantries released a letter to the community and held a press conference at the Capitol. We came together to sound an alarm about the rising number of people facing food insecurity and the need for both immediate support and longer-term solutions to the challenges of distributing enough food to meet the growing need. You can get involved in building a community where our neighbors don't have to experience hunger. Ahead of Sunday's #SuperBowl, here's a look at how U.S. Food Waste Pact signatory Aramark helps reduce #foodwaste at the #KansasCityChiefs stadium in KC. Says Aramark's Tim Witkowski: “Although our goal is always to eliminate food waste before it is generated, there may still be instances when we have excess safe-to-eat food available. Our food donation program provides this food to hunger relief agencies, like Pete's Garden, who distribute meals to organizations that serve families with children. We donate thousands of pounds of food each year, which helps feed families in the Kansas City community and keeps surplus prepared food out of landfills.” If you're hosting family and friends for the game, make sure you've got a plan to keep the food you serve from going to waste – only serve what you know will get eaten, have plenty of containers for people to take food home with them, and make sure you've got space in your refrigerator or freezer for leftovers ?? https://lnkd.in/eNqPp6f3
