The Veteran Leaders Forum launched in 2023 when a few Houston area veterans wanted to see their lives transformed through purposeful relationship building. Our mission is to foster personal and professional growth among military veteran leaders in our community. Since inception, the Forum has carried out this mission in three instinctive ways: 1. Bringing veteran leaders to the table. Our most meaningful conversations with each other about community, family, and career have often taken place while breaking bread together. 2. Giving back to relevant causes. Most recently, we hosted DeliverFund to learn about and support the war against human trafficking that's being waged in our backyards. 3. Creating a peer-led support network. The magic happens when our members meet in their small groups. The conversations revolve around relevant topics where each member draws from their experiences to add value to the group. SOF professionals strive to understand the risk tolerance of senior military leaders, policy makers, and elected leaders.....all while being forward deployed and proximate to adversaries / competitors. Interwar Years paper 4 seeks to energize this discussion.

We can proactively shape our military leadership for the better. In 1941, General Marshall led a major restructuring of the military's leadership. Hundreds of officers were retired or discharged to bring in new and dynamic perspectives. The initiative was controversial, but aimed to improve the army's effectiveness. We must improve our leadership by identifying and promoting capable individuals with skills and innovative vision for modern warfare. These high-potential officers should not have to wait for the traditional command rotation; their talents are needed now more than ever. If we hesitate, our adversaries may capitalize on our stagnation, forcing us into a reactive stance.

From Battlefield to Boardroom: The Mission Continues Transitioning from the military to civilian life is one of the toughest challenges we face as veterans.
