One of the reasons that Ten at the Top was started and that led to me becoming the first full-time Executive Director in 2010 was the idea that the Upstate was growing and would continue to see population growth for years to come. That being said, the growth the region has seen over the last five years is amazing. South Carolina, and specifically the Upstate, has gone from being part of the population growth in the Southeast to leading that growth as the U-haul study shows. When I got here the question asked was "are we shaping future growth or being shaped by that growth?" I think 15 years later the question is still the correct one. Some great things are being done by communities across the Upstate and SC, but more investment in both physical and social infrastructure is critical if we want to indeed shape the current and future growth of this wonderful region.
It's no secret that our region is experiencing massive growth as folks from all over the country seek out new job opportunities and a different pace of life here in the Upstate. According to U-Haul's 2024 Growth States list, South Carolina is #1 for incoming one-way travelers, with Greenville coming in at #10 on the metro list and Spartanburg making #11 for cities! How can we leverage this growth in our regional collaboration efforts? Let us know what you think in the comments! https://loom.ly/qgbc51E #upstatesc #tenatthetop #uhaul #growth #lovewhereyoulive #yeahthatgreenville

I always look forward to UHaul's report on growth states and cities! It's no surprise to see South Carolina at?#1?and North Carolina at?#3?(with Charlotte being named the?#2?in the individual cities rankings). The Carolinas currently represent 5 of the top 15 growth cities. As these great migrations continue, they will only create more demand and attract more self-storage and other real estate investment from around the country. #commercialrealestate #selfstorage #growthstates #headquaterrelocations https://lnkd.in/eU_vTxZq https://lnkd.in/eM8Cqc2p

DFW: Where the?traffic?is people moving in, not sitting still! Dallas-Fort Worth might be the 4th largest metro in the U.S., but here’s what’s unique—DFW doesn’t crack the top 15 for worst traffic congestion, unlike New York, Chicago, or LA, where drivers experience major delays (101, 96, and 89 hours per year, respectively, according to a report by the INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard). Our highly developed highway system and suburb-friendly layout play a huge role in why Dallas remains a top choice for businesses—and investors. By bypassing the urban traffic headaches seen in other large cities, we’ve created a business-friendly infrastructure that fuels local economies and suburb growth, drawing companies and people alike to this powerhouse region. Thinking about where to put down roots in real estate? Take it from the pros—DFW’s traffic advantage is just one of many reasons we recommend this market for stable, long-term investment.? ???? Dallas Leads U-Haul Growth Metros in 2024 Texas has been the leader in attracting movers the last three years, coming in 2nd in 2024, according to U-Haul's data based on over 2.5 million one-way customer transactions. Texas' allure as a growth state reflects not just in the tech industry but across various sectors, making it a hotspot for professionals seeking opportunities while having great communities and school districts to raise your family. While South Carolina (#1) leads Texas in growth, North Carolina (#3), Florida (#4) and Tennessee (#5) round out the Top 5, the sustained appeal of Texas is noteworthy. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area, as part of this thriving state, is well-positioned to capitalize on this influx of talent and innovation??. It's an exciting time for Texas, DFW and the City of McKinney, as we at the McKinney Economic Development Corporation continue to see a surge in opportunities and growth. The U-Haul migration trends are a clear indicator of where people are moving, and Texas' dominance in this area is a positive sign for our community and the state's economy as a whole with talent continuing to see the opportunities in North Texas. Seattle has been revealed as one of the least driver-friendly cities among the top 100 most populous in the United States, according to a recent report by WalletHub. The city ranked 92nd in the rankings for the best cities to drive in, highlighting its challenges for motorists. The report, which evaluated 30 indicators related to driver-friendliness, found that Seattle excels in some areas, such as driving laws, availability of alternative fuel stations, and the average price of a new car. However, the city falls short in ownership and maintenance costs, gas prices, auto maintenance expenses, traffic and infrastructure, and the number of rainy days. The report also revealed that the average commute time for Seattle residents is approximately 33 minutes, with drivers spending nearly 370 hours on the road each year, with an average annual cost of around $733 per driver. In a separate analysis by ConsumerAffairs, Seattle's traffic was found to be the third worst among 49 major U.S. metropolitan areas, trailing only Los Angeles in terms of daily congestion. What are your thoughts on this report? Do you agree with the findings? How do you think Seattle can improve its driver-friendly status? Share your insights.

Dynamic pricing is the future whether we like it or not. ???? Starting Jan 5th, NYC’s controversial congestion pricing plan will officially go into effect. For vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th Street (see pic), this dynamic tolling system is designed to reduce traffic, improve air quality, and generate rev for public transportation. A concept that's been transforming the experience economy for years, from hotels to theme parks, is now reshaping urban mobility. Why This Matters: Dynamic pricing isn’t just about charging more; it’s about aligning costs with demand to influence behavior. ?? Incentivizing Behavior: Higher tolls during peak hours encourage drivers to shift travel times or choose alternate routes. ?? Managing Capacity: By reducing congestion, the system creates a smoother, more predictable flow for those who need to drive. ?? Funding Innovation: Revenue generated will go directly into enhancing NYC’s public transportation system, benefiting millions. The Broader Implications: Dynamic pricing is more than a tool for tolls—it’s the future of pricing strategy across industries. We're not seeing a trend, we're seeing a fundamental shift. As a way to unlock value (queue consultant speak), it's one of the best strategies revenue-wise, but it had to be balanced with eye on consumer experience walking hand-in-hand to a win-win. Are we ready to embrace its potential fully? Drop your thoughts below! ### ??
