In areas with sandy and gravelly soil, construction can be challenging due to the unstable nature of loose sand and gravel. GeoSolv offers a variety of solutions for loose sandy soils including Rapid Impact Compaction, Geopier Impact, Geopier dX1 to create stable foundations in these soil profiles. And when those loose soils are in seismic zones with water, liquefaction can be of concern. In fact, due to the changes in code, the math on liquefaction is sometimes showing this as an issue to address even in places like Toronto. Liquefaction mitigation using Geopier techniques provide great benefit for sandy soils. In sands that are silty, the power of vertical ramming energy is superior to methods that simply just vibrate the soil. We bring to bear the worldwide experience of Geopier, who have provided liquefaction mitigation in places like San Francisco, Vancouver, and Christchurch, NZ. Let us help you avoid that "sinking feeling"! #GeoSolv #TheGroundImprovementPeople

We’re partnering with Kleinschmidt Associates and the Upper Columbia United Tribes (UCUT) to launch a landmark project for the development of fish passage systems at Chief Joseph and Grand Coulee Dams.? This project includes efforts to reintroduce salmon to historical habitats blocked by two of the largest hydropower dams in the United States. Our collaborative effort will focus on feasibility studies, planning, and engineering design for fish passage systems—balancing ecological, cultural, and hydropower priorities.? Together, with UCUT tribes (Coeur d’Alene, Colville, and Spokane), dam owners, and key regulators, we are restoring these waterways and returning salmon to their ancestral habitats.? #Proudpartner #AnchorQEA #Kleinschmidt #UpperColumbiaUnitedTribes #Fishpassage #Restoration #Revitalization??

Tectonic Engineering is excited to share our FDR Park Wetlands Mitigation Project Update The FDR Park 29-Acre Tidal Wetland (Park) site is in the final phase of plant growth for the thousands of trees, shrubs and grasses that sprouted up in 2024 and transformed this construction site into a green lush site. Also, this site continues to receive the high tide from the Navy Yard and the Delaware River as designed and constructed which promotes wildlife habitat and alleviates the flooding which use to hamper the Park’s operation. The City of Philadelphia, local, state and the federal environmental agencies value the enhancements that this project has created. The residents enjoy the wildlife and the scenic view as they walk around the perimeter of the wetland. The property making up the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) contains areas of jurisdictional wetlands and waterways subject to federal and state regulation. Tectonic was contracted to provide Construction Management and Inspection services in support of the overall plans to develop a viable wetlands mitigation area to compensate for impacts of proposed and future development of the Philadelphia International Airport. This Project consists of constructing a 29-acre tidal wetland mitigation site at FDR Park. The Work includes: 1. Temporary haul road construction 2. Excavation of a 29-acre tidal wetland basin 3. Testing, sorting, and handling of excavated materials 4. Constructing a soil hill with fill excavated on-site and disposing of residual waste materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulations 5. Retrofitting two historic 3-foot by 6-foot brick arch culverts with tide gate structures 6. Wetland, meadow, and turf seeding 7. Minor grading adjustments for wetland establishment 8. Planting plugs and containerized plants 9. Supplemental seeding for wetland establishment 10. Monitoring and adaptive management plan to ensure site establishment 11. Non-native invasive plant control 12. Removal of haul road and associated sediment controls and fencing. Project challenges included residual soil material testing and handling, working in an active community park, and procuring over 44,000 trees, shrubs, plugs and other vegetation. Congratulations to the team and Tectonic's PA Regional Director Bernard Rohe, PE, MCE, CCM, PMP for a job well done! ?????????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ?? ?????????????? ?????? ???? ???????? ????????????????????? ???????? ???? ???? ???? ?????????????????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????? ???? ?????????????'?? ??????????????????????? First, what exactly is soil compaction? You probably already know that it's the process of applying energy to loose soil to eliminate voids, increasing its density and, consequently, its load-bearing capacity and stability, among other properties. The goal is to enhance the engineering properties of the soil. ?? ?? Why is soil compaction so important during theinstallationn of ?????????????? The functionality of geocells relies on the principle of confinement. It is essential to ensure that the compaction of the soil inside the geocells is adequate. Otherwise, the voids within the structure can experience settlement during the project's operation, leading to a decrease in resistance. Did you know that? Do you have any questions? ?? We read you in the comments! #SoilCompaction #InfrastructureEngineering #ConstructionInsights

Site Feasibility! "Identification of sensitive environmental receptors" is a phrase that we use often with our developer clients. What it involves is a holistic approach to understanding the habitats, flora, fauna, hydrology of the site and the surrounding area. This includes some subterranean aspects. Our EIA team recently completed a Karst Risk Assessment in the Connaught region for a potential renewable energy project. Beneath the surface of this photograph lies a regionally important karstified aquifer primarily of Dinantian Pure Bedded Limestones. This is formed by the dissolution of soluble rocks creating a number of distinct features including springs, swallow holes, sinkholes, enclosed depressions and caves which can be a direct pathway from the surface to the underlying groundwater. These features could be affected by ground excavations, drilling & piling. After completing a desktop study and a site investigation we advised the client and their design team of the areas where any future construction should avoid to prevent environmental impact on groundwater receptors and the possibility of unstable ground conditions. If you don't Beware when Karst is there, it could all your Fault! #karst #environmentalsolutions #environmentalimpact #groundwater #hydrogeology
