Middle mile network MMN The middle mile is the physical mid-section of the infrastructure required to enable internet connectivity for homes, businesses, and community institutions. A MMN serves the state best when it offers multiple ingress and egress points allowing traffic to be rerouted as necessary. This might happen in the case of routine maintenance, natural disaster or even load balancing. The network adds redundancy with connections to multiple upstream carriers. In an example like Alabama Cogent Communications would serve the state from multiple POP’s inside and outside of the state. Using POP’s within the state enables high-speed connectivity without a costly fiber build. Cogent is live with 100GE POP’s in #Huntsville, #Birmingham, #Montgomery and #Atmore #Alabama. Existing fiber infrastructure connecting the state to #Atlanta #Ashburn #Chicago and #Dallas are other points where the network would be connected. My posts and opinions are my own. In this newly released area, we have now launched the survey and TRR stages across 8 Agg zones, with a projected reach of 4,000 homes. Our team is moving full speed ahead, aiming to have Sparkbrook live by the end of March 2025. Tamworth ?? Works are well underway with the completion of the Spine and Pon TRR, our crews are hard at work on both underground and overhead cabling. It’s all hands on deck as we push to bring customers online by Christmas.
