Just applied to the Platanus hackathon ?? If you’re around the Chilean startup scene, you probably know Platanus Ventures. They’re a key player here, backing early-stage startups and always working to grow the ecosystem. This time they’re putting on a 36-hour, in-person hackathon. It’ll be one of those intense, no-sleep-just-ship things. I love these kinds of events because the energy is unmatched. We need more of these. To me, they’re not just a place to work on cool products but also a chance to connect with people who are just as crazy, just as passionate. These events are perfect for meeting people, swapping ideas, and seeing what we can create in a short time. Hoping to get in, because connecting in these spaces is always super fun. #MorningRant ?? #DeepTech is not a sector, it is a characteristic on a venture’s technology stack. I’d like the ecosystem to consider how it labels ventures because it often creates the environment that actually confuses itself. Startupfest hosted the inaugural #HardTechFest which was a great addition to the event. #HardTech always gets a bad rap by investors for being more expensive to commercialize then software. The reality is that practically speaking it is actually less expensive to develop #hardware because there is an incredible amount of non-dilutive funding available for it that is not there for software. Hardware is HARDER however and I appreciate the moat that it develops for itself as a result.
