A couple of months ago, I reached out to a few leaders and asked: “What certifications would you recommend that I get if I want to pivot into the Workforce Transformation and Organizational Change Management Consulting space?” Lean Six Sigma was one of the ones that was highly recommended. And thanks to the Higher Landing team, I was able to enroll into this program and I successfully passed my exam today ?? During this program, I learned a lot, and there are three takeaways that I wanted to share from this experience: 1?? Fixing everything is not feasible You can’t fix every process nor can you eliminate every inefficiency or waste because that is way too costly. This is where brainstorming and identifying priorities with the client is essential. 2?? Pareto’s principle is key to maximizing time and resources 20% of causes influence 80% of the results. Whether it’s in fixing a problem or figuring out how you are going to tackle your to-do list as an entrepreneur or leader, take the time to assess what is the 20% of variables that will give you the most impactful result! 3?? Mindset > Method One of the most memorable pieces of advice that I got was from Lewisa Anciano - she mentioned, “Take the program and understand the mindset/ principles but don't be married to the complex statistical models as it won't be applicable to all of the organizations that you work with...” This statement resonated with me so I used the same mindset when I was completing my Agile Project Management certificate. ?? P.s., To the leaders who took the time to hop on a call and/or grabbed a coffee with me when I reached out, I appreciate you ?? #professionaldevelopment #lifelonglearner #consultants #consulting

Steps to Solve Problems Effectively ======================= ?? Dive into the 8-Step Practical Problem-Solving methodology, a cornerstone of Lean thinking that drives continuous improvement and operational excellence. ?? Start with the purpose: Understand that problems are opportunities in disguise. The first step is recognizing that having no problems is the biggest problem of all. ??? Process is key: The 8-step process begins with identifying the gap between the current situation and the ideal state. It’s all about setting targets, visualizing the problem, and breaking it down into manageable parts. ?? People play a crucial role: Effective problem solving requires capable problem solvers at all levels. Leaders must act as teachers, guiding teams to the root causes of issues and encouraging a culture of problem-solving. ?? Use the A3 framework: Document and share your problem-solving process. From clarifying the problem to implementing countermeasures, every step is crucial in driving sustainable improvements. ?? Why ask why? The 5 Whys technique helps you dig deep into the root causes. It’s not about blaming but understanding the underlying factors that contribute to the problem. ?? Measure the impact: Implement countermeasures and monitor KPIs to ensure that the gap is closed and the desired outcome is achieved. Continual learning and improvement are at the heart of this process. ?? Close the loop: Visualize, standardize, and share the lessons learned. This cycle of problem-solving leads to a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that small gains add up to significant progress over time. #Lean #ContinuousImprovement #ProblemSolving #Leadership #ProcessImprovement #OperationalExcellence #LeanSixSigma #RootCauseAnalysis #A3Methodology #Kaizen Source: Lean Enterprise Academy
