Good afternoon, here's the Market Action Index report for Monday, March 11, 2024. Buyers, owing your own home can shelter you from inflation in many ways. If you have a fixed-rate mortgage, your monthly mortgage payments remain the same over the life of the loan, regardless of inflation. This means that as inflation increases the general price level of goods and services, your mortgage payments remain consistent. Unlike renting, where landlords may raise rents in response to inflation, owning your own home gives you more control over your housing expenses. You are not subject to sudden rent increases, providing greater stability and predictability in your housing costs. Also, as the general price level rises, the value of your home appreciates, providing what is referred to as a "hedge against inflation." This can be beneficial if you decide to sell your home in the future, as you will likely realize a higher return on your investment. In addition, as you make mortgage payments, you build equity in your home. Equity is the difference between the market value of your home and the outstanding balance on your mortgage. Increasing home equity also serves as a buffer against inflation by preserving the value of your home. Homeownership also offers certain tax advantages that can help mitigate the impact of inflation.
