It is CYA C over Y our A ... For all, the response determines the meaning of the communication. You can't totally control how people will respond especially when there's fear, threat and other things. Hence this reminder about how you might influence in the way you communicate? Would you consider yourself a violent communicator? How you would know? ?? People react defensive to your feedback or suggestions ?? You generalize peoples behavior "you always" , "you never" ?? You don't distinct between "You are" and. "Your behavior" ?? Metaphors of war are part of your vocabulary ??You catch yourself assuming peoples intentions are negative ??Feelings of impatience and frustrations are very familiar to you ?? The good news? ?? We can re-learn how we communicate and change our language. But what is NVC? "Non violent communication (#nvc ) is based on the principles of nonviolence.? NVC begins by assuming that we are all ?? compassionate by nature (and) assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that all actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs. I’ve met a few people who fake modesty by using verbal/tonal modifications like “what little I can do in THIS SUPER AMAZING AND TOTALLY EXAGGERATED ROLE”. I heard “what little I can do”, but what they were really saying was “look how awesome I am at everything I do”. Every single one of us knows that person. And recognising that person is one of the most essential aspects of people management. Why try to recognise them? 1?? Because unless you learn to call bullsh*t, you WILL waste your time either thinking about those people or seeking guidance from them. 2?? Or worse, undermining your own skills and accomplishments in comparison. How to recognise them? 1?? Instead of hearing those words, we need to pick up on the tonal cues. 2?? Facial expressions often give it away too. 3?? Matching those words to behaviour is also a good way to do this — eg. somebody who never partakes in others’ success in a non-social situation where he/she can’t make a show of it, BUT tries to appear humble nonetheless. Humility is an underrated and often misinterpreted habit in people. And once we learn to recognise it and give it the value it deserves, we will automatically start putting our energy towards the right relationships. There’s a difference between being successful and seeming it. #PeopleManagement

Recently completed the course "Introduction to Emotional Intelligence: Navigating Workplace Relationships" and discovered a powerful technique that I believe can benefit everyone in handling criticism constructively: "Being the Fog" Imagine yourself as fog—light, shapeless, and freely flowing. When someone directs criticism at you, whether constructive feedback or negativity, imagine absorbing it like the fog absorbs a stone thrown at it. Instead of reacting defensively or emotionally, this technique teaches you to let criticism pass through you without clinging to it. This approach not only prevents escalation but also promotes a calm and thoughtful response. #EmotionalIntelligence
