When considering the future of their business, the Club Fitness Center in Greenville, Al and Gloria Guilfoyle had always seen the YMCA as an ideal successor, and that it would be the “cherry on top of ending our careers.” Now, the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids will invest $15 million to quadruple the size of the Montcalm County fitness center that the nonprofit organization acquired at the end of 2024. ?? https://lnkd.in/g_d6udbZ

I will be participating in the Horse Capital Marathon in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, April 13th. This will be my 16th marathon and I’m issuing this one as an opportunity to raise money for a young girl from Calgary, Emily, who was born missing her right hand. I’ve know Emily for a few years, through The War Amps, Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program and she is an absolute sweetheart of a kid. A few months ago, I was speaking at Emily’s school and afterwards, she and her mom were telling me about a sports camp in Du Quoin, Illinois that Emily REALLY wants to go to. The camp is put on by NubAbility and they specialize in encouraging youth with various limb differences and amputations to get into mainstream sports. Their summer camps provide inspiration, instruction, and coaching to help get youth out of the bleachers and into sport. If you would like to help get Emily to the NubAbility Athletics sports camp this summer, the link to donate is below. If you’re unable to make a donation, please consider sharing this post to help get it in front of as many people as possible. Thank you so much, in advance, for your support and contribution. #ifican https://lnkd.in/gRfzAegj

At G.E.A.R., we know sports teach more than skills—they teach life lessons. However, for many, Pay-to-Play fees and lack of gear stand in the way. The Detroit Pistons partnered with G.E.A.R. to make a life-changing donation to Battle Creek's Midnight League, a program offering a safe, structured environment for young adults from 8 p.m. to midnight. With only 8 jerseys and 1 basketball, this program was struggling. Thanks to the Pistons' donation, they now have the gear they need to continue their life-saving work. Recently, Battle Creek lost 3 young lives to street violence—proof that programs like this are vital. Help us keep youth off the streets and in the game by joining donating and partnering with G.E.A.R. Every bit counts.???? #GEAR #DetroitPistons #BattleCreekMidnightLeague #YouthAthletes #YouthAthletics #FinancialConstraints #FinancialBarriers #YouthEmpowerment #AthleticsForAll #MakingADifference #UnlockPotential #BreakBarriers #EmpowerYouth #LevelThePlayingField #SportsForAll #AthleticEquality #YouthEmpowerment #CommunitySupport #YouthDevelopment

??? #AutismAwareness Top 36 Golf Course Rankings: Post 24 - Course #13?? ?? ?? DONATE - Please help us get there by donating $36 today: https://lnkd.in/e4MFcQfd To represent the 1 in 36 kids affected by Autism in the US, I will be counting down my Top 36 Golf Courses that I have ever played with a short story/memory for each. If you could please consider donating $36 (or more) to Els for Autism via the link above, I would appreciate it ?? Golf Course #13 - Yeamans Hall Club Is it possible to capture the beauty, history, and vibe of an entire state into a single golf course? For the state of South Carolina, I believe Yeamans Hall does just that. Sitting just 12 miles from downtown Charleston and designed by one of my favorites, Seth Raynor, in 1924, Yeamans Hall sits on land that used to be the site of a 17th century plantation owned by the Yeamans family. When the country club was founded, it was built to attract wealthy northern financial men to Charleston in the fall and winter with 200-300 house sites. Today, it continues to be a successful private club with what I imagine to be one of the toughest waiting lists to add your name to in the country. What makes Yeamans Hall my favorite in South Carolina? People have asked me when making this list what criteria I’ve used, and it really comes down to three things: 1) The feeling you have when playing it, 2) How well you can remember each hole after the round, and 3) How badly you want to tee it up again on #1 after tapping in on #18. Maybe I’m biased because I grew up in SC, but for me, I’ve never played a course which puts me in a calmer/happier mental state and one where I want to tee it up again on #1 after I’m finished than Yeamans. It’s just such a fun course to play! If you have had the pleasure of playing it, I’m curious to hear if you enjoyed it as much as me ??

The Denver Broncos Football Club Foundation has announced its largest philanthropic initiative: a $12 million commitment to provide 15,000 new football helmets to every high school in Colorado. The "All In. All Covered" program will distribute Riddell Axiom helmets—rated among the safest by the NFL and NFLPA—to 277 high schools over four years. With helmets costing up to $1,000 each, they represent a significant barrier to entry for many players. Broncos President Damani Leech emphasized that addressing safety concerns was paramount in developing the initiative. The program begins rollout in May and will provide schools with 25% of their allotted helmets annually. #LinkedInSports #SportsBiz #NFL #Colorado

The intention of this post is to shine a light on young female athletes (like Lili in the video below) striving to play professional sport; but first, some context. I’m blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, all of whom have played sport, 3 at youth representative level (football, futsal, cricket), and one who played semi professionally in NZ’s top ?? tier. I’ve coached girls and mixed teams, including a female U15 team to New Zealand Football's national futsal title. I’ve played competitive junior, youth and senior football, plus cricket, tennis, rugby, and Aussie Rules. I’m a fan of the Wellington Phoenix Football Club, Carlton Football Club, Warringah Rugby Club and along with all of that, I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. It’s heartwarming to see some of the players I’ve coached now playing for their National team and in professional ?? environments. I’d like to think somewhere along the way I had a positive influence. So, as a father of 2 daughters, a coach of female players, and as a fan of all sports, how good is it to see young Lili in the video? Lili is a northern beaches local, a fan of Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - and now a representative rugby league ?? player, chasing her field of dreams with the club she has supported all her life. I understand the sacrifices young athletes like Lili and their families make to chase a dream. It takes time, money, love, and the expertise of good coaches to provide holistic support around young athletes - to grow them to be good people. Only a small percentage will play professionally, but with the right mindset, the young person will have grown through the experience, whatever their eventual career. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles fans: you can help nurture the future of the club - by making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION to the Sea Eagles Foundation. Your donation supports the holistic life skills needed to see the +250 male and female teenage athletes in our representative pathways programs be the best human beings they can be. And who knows, maybe one day we will see young women like Lili running out on to 4 Pines Brewing Company Pty Ltd Park for Manly, at Brookie in a National Rugby League W game. Help nurture the next generation and watch them soar with the Sea Eagles. Donate now and get in touch if you want to discuss other ways to support the future of our club. #ManlySeaEagles #NextGen #Donate Minerva Network Kate Olgers GAICD Deana Candelori FCA Gabrielle Curtin Romilly Madew AO FTSE HonFIEAust EngExec Hanna Clare Julie Sibraa GAICD
For Lili, as a lifelong Manly fan, “it’s a privilege to put the jersey on, it doesn’t feel real.” Help make the dream of playing NRLW real - for Lili and other young women in the Sea Eagles pathways program. Teenage athletes in a high-performance sporting environment need lots of support. We coach technical skills, nutrition, prehab and rehab; but also mental resilience, education and employment, social skills and time management. These are the holistic life skills required to nurture the next generation of Sea Eagles. ? Lili is already a good young rugby league player. We aim to help Lili and our other young athletes be the best humans they can be, regardless of their eventual career paths. ? As a Sea Eagles fan, you can play your part. Help nurture the next generation by making a tax-deductible donation to the Sea Eagles Foundation. Watch them soar with the Sea Eagles. For young aspiring athletes in clubs and academies, 62% struggle to pay the fees to continue, and an increasing number of these clubs and academies can’t intervene to help cover the costs, leading to high dropout rates. For disadvantaged athletes competing at a higher level, 65% of their annual costs cannot be covered without charitable support, creating an uneven playing field. Without the support, many say their pursuit of elite sport wouldn’t be possible (44%) or that it would put increased pressure on them and their families (37%). This is where we step in with our THF Advancement Programmes to make a positive impact ?? #sport #education #socialimpact

NONPROFIT FUNDRAISING TEACHABLE MOMENT - Years ago the boys had a group of friends who wanted to learn how to play basketball. So we started a clinic for those kids to teach the basics. A few years later, we all went in our own directions to play on different travel teams. However, a few times a year, this group of kids get together on the SAME team (Surge Elite) to play in a few tournaments. That says something to me. The fact that these kids will stop what they are doing with THEIR teams, so they can come back together and play on the same team again . . . . is something special. It tells me that it's not about basketball. It's not about wins or losses. It's about relationships and friendships. They don't NEED to be part of Surge Elite, they WANT to be part of it. If you base your interactions with your donors on the "wins/losses" of their gifts, then you are being nothing but transactional. What are you doing to build a TRUE relationship? Have you ever asked how you could be a help to THEM? Would you interact with that person whether they donated money or not? Do your donors feel like part of your team? Do they feel NEEDED or WANTED? #nonprofitleadership #nonprofits #fundraising

If you're the CEO of the PGA of America what's one if the first things you do to help PGA of America Members? Me, either switch to for-profit and work with the IRS to make it doable. OR Figure out ways to give money to PGA of America Members to use to create and build Grow the Game Programs in their local communities. (If you can give $400,000 to each Ryder Cup Team Member for their charitable golf initiatives, you can $400,000 to PGA of America Members for their charitable golf initiatives.) Somehow figure ways to get the money away from the wasteful PGA of America Bureaucrats.
