The #VotePharmacy manifesto for community pharmacy calls for the expansion of the #PharmacyFirst service in England CCA modelling shows that a fully-funded service would free up 30m+ GP appointments annually. We’ve undertaken extensive analyses on the rollout of Pharmacy First which show that the service is consistently meeting patient needs. In the first month: ?? 92% of eligible patients receive the care they needed without the need for further referral. ?? One-third of consultations have occurred out of hours (9-6pm), allowing patients to access care at convenient times. ?? Two and half more consultations took place in areas of higher deprivation. Indeed, CCA members recently hit a milestone of 200,000. However, there is still much that can be done to increase public awareness and drive GP referrals. Read more here:

This #PharmacyWeek I was asked, “What do I wish people knew about pharmacists?”? ? I have many thoughts, but my first reaction: I wish everyone knew a pharmacist personally.? ? Everyone at some point in their life needs to take a medication, and I wish everyone had access to a pharmacist they could rely on to ask questions—from the routine to the complex—to?get the most out of their medications and feel as good as possible. ? Does the Pharmacy First scheme help with the work/life admin balance? I personally think so. A quick trip to Boots Pharmacy (other pharmacies are available) on my lunch hour verses endless waiting at the doctors surgery... I know which I prefer, but like everything it comes with its risks and limitations.
