The Georgia Municipal Association and the Georgia Cities Foundation recently named West Point as one of the first-year communities in the Georgia Placemaking Collaborative's 2025 program. The collaborative seeks to bring or restore prosperity through the creation of a community placemaking strategy. These strategies will capitalize on local assets to create healthy, appealing, and unique places for people, to live, work, and play. #WestPointGA

Residents are reshaping the Town of Riverdale Park's identity through active community engagement aimed at reclaiming the town seal to reflect its evolving values, history, and aspirations. Neighborhood Design Center supported Riverdale Park by: ? Engaging youth and residents to uncover what makes Riverdale Park special ? Exploring visions for the town's seal through youth activities at Riverdale Park Elementary ? Hosting two dynamic community meetings to gather diverse voices The key themes that emerged were ??????????????????, ??????????????????, ????????????, ?????? ????????????????????—highlighting the importance of celebrating the past, present and future. These projects offer a powerful reminder of how communities can come together to reclaim their past and set an example for towns to chart a path toward the future. The Riverdale Seal redesign was completed by selected artist-Torie Partridge.

The good momentum and growth along Howard Street (both on the north side in #Evanston and the south side in #Chicago) is due in part to smart city planning and collaborative economic development.

Charlotte, NC is poised for a major transformation with the proposed Queen's Park project. ??? Envisioned as a 220-acre urban green space, it aims to convert a former industrial railyard near uptown into the city’s largest and most dynamic park. Spearheaded by the nonprofit Friends of Queen's Park, the initiative aspires to establish a community hub while addressing the city's need for more accessible green spaces. Queen's Park promises to integrate diverse amenities such as flexible spaces like a great lawn for recreation and events, cultural hubs to showcase arts and host festivals, natural preserves that restore ecosystems and add tree cover and connections to existing trails and infrastructure, linking surrounding neighborhoods and promoting walkability. The park is intended to bridge and unite eight neighborhoods divided by industrial zones, fostering inclusivity and urban renewal. Advocates liken its potential impact to New York's Central Park or Chicago's Millennium Park, emphasizing its role in enhancing quality of life, culture, and sustainability ? While the vision is compelling, challenges remain. Securing funding and addressing competing land-use needs complicate progress. For example, parts of the site have recently been allocated for light rail storage, underscoring the complexity of balancing infrastructure with public space development

Reimagining the Civic Commons is a collective partnership of foundations and local leaders across the county who work to reimagine public spaces in ways that positively enhance communities nationwide. Their model is demographic inclusive and cultivates community trust and resiliency. "We believe that when cities [urban and rural] change how they design, manage and program their public spaces, they can change much more than the space themselves - they can nurture social impacts that improve neighborhoods and lives."
