Advice of the day: Bet on yourself, be unapologetically you, be relentless in delivering services that don't break, invite marketing & sales professionals into your conversations, include people who are versed in building systems & processes, stop ?? giving your intellectual property away to ????'s that use you & toss you out once they have gotten what they wanted, & never, never apologize for using an f-bomb from time to time. I think this is a key insight: you need both entrepreneurial drive and vigor as well as people who make operations predictably of high quality to create excellent businesses. Usually, this involves the fanatic entrepreneurs giving way to the "bean counters" (but you need a certain amount of both.as people like Welch & Iacocca re-discovered in the 1070s & '80s).

Great advice and I’m sure we’ve heard it all before! Live by your guiding light of values and belief in yourself. Real values never change, regardless of how strong the winds are and believe in yourself is the support that keeps you strong and leads to ultimate success.

On Thursday, January 16 at 10am Pacific. Ken Polk, CEO of Arlington? Family Offices will be joining Dave Specht, Director of Global Family Institute at Drucker School of Management for the next Authors @ Drucker book discussion. Ken Polk's book, "The Spirit of Wealth Preservation," will be the topic along with an interactive and engaging conversation surrounding how families can preserve wealth (well-being). As Dave also notes: Family Offices are an example of a company that is seeking to fully align their company with the needs and intentions with the families they serve. He goes on to mention his appreciation for Ken's use of the term "Souls Under Advisement" as a more human description compared to the more traditionally used term, "Assets Under Management." Along similar sentiments, I have mentioned to my constituents over the years how my opinion of commonly used terms in finance and investing have evolved over several decades, in my progressive banking/executive career to date. What I've come to conclude so far: It's not just who we know and what we learn that can create a meaningful legacy. To me, this requires hands on experience which generates true wisdom often enhanced by reflection & introspection throughout our lifetimes. Around mid-life, it becomes what we do with our wisdom and abilities, combined with moxie and the will to help all stakeholders reach their full potential that I find important. Perhaps playing the role of Sherpa, a leader/advisor can help uncover the heirlooms that exist inside each of us personally - while benefiting going concerns, also. ...now thinking a little more deeply about Ken Polk's choice of words as showcased by Dave's post below, I am inclined to think this will be a pretty dynamic conversation. I'm looking forward to it!
