Today is a major step forward for STEM education as the National STEM Week bill has officially been introduced in Congress, thanks to the leadership of Representatives Mike Carey and Joyce Beatty, and the tireless efforts of COSI - Center of Science and Industry , EXPLR, and a coalition of over 20 STEM organizations over the past few months to shape this legislation.
At STEM Next Opportunity Fund, we've long believed that STEM learning is for everyone, everywhere, and we work every day to advance that vision by supporting out-of-school-time STEM programming. An annual National STEM Week would significantly amplify these efforts, shining a spotlight on the critical role that informal STEM learning plays in developing well-rounded, curious, and capable learners. It would create a powerful platform to showcase the innovative work happening in after-school programs, summer camps, and community centers across the country, helping to integrate in-school and out-of-school STEM experiences.
As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mission to support and expand STEM initiatives that drive progress and innovation. I encourage you to support this important legislation and help us ensure that STEM education remains a top priority in shaping our nation's future. https://prn.to/3BbbJXD
