F*ck up Friday; less than appetizing marketing It's an easy mistake to make, you want to emphasize something good your brand has and you highlight it by saying what you're not. "We don't let our customers wait" or "We're not expensive". The idea comes across, but often it's the negativity that lingers and you don't want that association with your brand. There are of course examples of where this type of marketing does work, so it will still be applied by brands from time to time. Which can also result in a pretty big f*ck up. This happened when burger king wanted to emphasize how fresh their ingredients are. They chose to showcase this by illustrating how quickly their ingredients would go bad. So they campaigned with a moldy burger... It's an inventive idea for sure, but it's hard to look at this ad and feel the urge to go out for a burger. So, yes, sometimes it works, but overall we would say; stay away from negative associations! #fckupfriday #branding #marketingfails
