Vintage photo of the Jaguar XJ220S TWR! The XJ220S was the road-going version of the 'C' racecar. Sporting a Twin Turbo 3.5L V6 that TWR squeezed 690hp out of at the time. This power was up from the 545hp that the base model made, which was still good for not only a production car top speed record, but a production car record around the Nurburgring. The 'S' featured carbon composite body panels (excluding the doors). These new panels, along with the removal of nonessential components of the car, provided a massive reduction in weight. This resulted in an improved 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and an estimated top speed of 228mph. With an average speed of 180.4mph, the 'S' set a lap record at the Millbrook Proving Ground at the time. Only 5 road-going examples were built, dubbed the "The Opal Fruit Cars", due to their bright original exterior colors. Those are chassis 220802, 220803, 220793, 220779 and 220784. A 6th chassis was made (220810), but it isn't usually considered a part of the original five examples. Check out this Jaguar XF S Sportbrake we have in for an oil change and steering issue! We don't see many of these! The binding feel and noise in the steering wheel that the client came in for is coming from the power steering rack. Unfortunately, the rack failed and will need to be replaced. The fresh power steering rack for the Jaguar has arrived! Once it's installed, we'll do an alignment and it will be good to go! We also found out that only about 250 of these XF S Sportbrakes were sold in the US between 2018 and 2020, making them quite rare. Casting marks inside the wheels indicate part numbers, production dates, sizing, and offset specifications. JaguarSport was a joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing, and each XJR-S was built with a TWR-modified 6.0-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. This example is finished in Signal Red with a tan soft top over Cream leather, and equipment includes a revised suspension, a limited-slip differential, 16″ Speedline wheels, an aero kit, air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo, and heated power-adjustable seats. The car was initially registered in California, and it was featured on BaT in 2018 before it was acquired by the selling dealer on BaT in April 2021. Subsequent work reportedly included replacing the belts, coolant and hydraulic hoses, and driveline mounts.
