Whilst the world's largest Green Steelworks is under construction in Sweden, here in South Australia, in Whyalla, we have an end-of-life Steelworks with a broken-down Blast Furnace that's becoming a National embarrassing problem. Australia's National security is becoming increasingly an issue, especially as the Steelworks is the only Steelworks producing railway tracks needed to rebuild Australia's regional railway networks. The risk is the entire City of Whyalla, with a population of around 22,000 people with infrastructure in place for a population of around 50,000 people, in the middle of Australia's worst affordable housing crisis with a shortage of around 1m affordable and social dwellings around Australia's with a lack of enough availability of infrastructure, sewerage, transport, roads, rail transport infrastructure in Whyalla existing Railway infrastructure is underutilised connected on the National Railway distribution network. Stegra in Sweden has attracted leading vehicle manufacturers Mercedes Benz and BMW, which have taken substantial equity positions, and customers like Volvo Trucks and Porsche, who are looking for a pathway to a sustainable future with truly massive scale-up and order book for sustainable Green Steel. The Whyalla Steelworks is an end-of-life Steelworks with a limited future despite being on the back doorstep in the Middleback Ranges with the vast availability of Magnetite Iron ore necessary for high-quality Green Steel production facilities over 4bn tonnes with a direct Railway to the existing Steelworks. In advanced planning is potentially the world's largest Green Hydrogen production facilities initiative by the ALP Malinauskas State Govt of Sth Australia with a preferred tenderers status Linde-BOC, the world's largest Industrial Gas Corporation Linde-BOC is well placed Whyalla to scale up vast amounts of Green Hydrogen production facilities and its derivatives like Green Ammonia and Green Methanol worldwide. A whole new GDP growth opportunity for worldwide export markets exists with a ready-made deep sea LNG export terminal that can be adapted quickly for shipping Green Ammonia directly to worldwide markets just down the road from Whyalla at Pt Bonython, a Sth Australian Govt infrastructure asset to replicate this deep sea export terminal could take decades in Australia with stringent environmental standards. Lastly, South Australia is today a renewable energy "Superpower" in the world, with the vast availability of Renewable off-peak electricity enabling viable Green Hydrogen production facilities on truly massive scale-up opportunities.
