The Indiana Department of Correction's Wabash Valley Community Garden Team has worked tirelessly to expand their garden from a small patch to 2 acres. The garden produces nearly 25,000 pounds of vegetables annually and has donated over 81,000 pounds in four years to local food banks and soup kitchens. It also empowers maximum security individuals with skills for successful re-entry and fosters a sense of purpose and community engagement. Their outstanding efforts earned them a Governor's Public Service Achievement Award last month—excellent work!
