We wouldn't have food grown with fertilizer derived from oil. We wouldn't be able to heat our homes, or drive our cars to work. The modern supply chain and transportation would be impossible without the powerhouse that is oil. Until we have a viable energy alternative for mass adoption, let's focus on using our natural resources to the best of our ability. In the meantime, let's use our ingenuity and creativity to develop new technologies that can provide reliable energy at scale. A strong economy is not possible without available, abundant and affordable energy. Imagine if we could harvest the embodied energy in the oil-based products after they are no longer useful. Imagine if less waste had to uselessly end up in landfills, and more goods were ACTUALLY recycled.
