The site consisted of some very dominant clumps of protected indigenous trees and the design of the homes plan strongly considered the placement of these. The garage form is bold as one approaches from the street. Together with the curved boundary wall, these are the only elements of the home visible from the street. Entry to the home exists between these two and sees occupants meandering through an adventure filled path to the house through the existing trees. The home is ‘L’ shaped in plan, this planning allowed the formation of a secluded courtyard between home and vegetation. This courtyard is protected from both the easterly and westerly winds. Central to the courtyard is an above ground pool as the focal point, accessible off a generous veranda that runs along the Northern edge of the home.
