It must continue to be a source of confusion and frustration for companies, individuals and organisations who genuinely want to invest in nature's ability to stabilise the climate and provide healthy and happy living spaces for human society to see articles like this. Are we truly addressing the climate crisis (or any social or environmental crisis) if we reduce the value of causes to their contribution to adjacent assets? When we measure a lion’s life solely by its impact on conservation fees or evaluate educational services only by their effect on job markets, we risk undermining the intrinsic value of these causes. What happens when certain issues lack immediate economic "worth"? This perspective raises uncomfortable questions about our approach to impact.
