This is the theory of conciousness that I believe in myself. I think it's the most logical and common sense notion out there. "Hameroff is an anesthesiologist, and he noted that there is close correspondence between, on the one hand, the measured effects of various anesthetics upon consciousness, and, on the other hand, the capacity of these anaesthetics to diminish the ability of the special electron to move from one stable location to the other. This suggests a possible close connection between consciousness and the configurational activity of microtubules." This quote comes from a summary, provided by the Lawernce Berkeley National Labratory, of Roger Penrose's theory of hard conciousness which is aided by the work of anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff. Together they advance the hypothesis that conciousness is caused by quantum jumps of electrons in nueronal microtubules. #philosophy #psychology

How to NAVIGATE SCOLIOSIS. I gave this interview (my first long format interview) to PT, Andrea Lebel through her Scoliosis and Spine Online Learning (SSOL) platform. I wanted to publish the interview during Scoliosis Awareness Month. I was very honest sharing how I navigated scoliosis for my son from his shocking diagnosis, to struggling with poor access to local health care, poor bracing options, discovering PSSE (Schroth), chiropractic and eventual VBT surgery. I talk about my failures and success. I've met some amazing people along the way, including health care practitioners, patients and families affected by scoliosis. I talk about what motivated me to create the Scoliosis Spine Surgeons Interviews YouTube channel and the next logical step which evolved into this Facebook group. My presentation is a tight 27 minutes with a 30 minute Q&A. The Q&A is pretty free flowing and I share some scoliosis nuggets there too. Check it out when you get a chance! ?? It’s no secret that brief naps leave us feeling mentally as well as physically refreshed, but it has not been entirely clear why. New research from Weill Cornell Medicine neurosurgery resident Natasha Kharas, MD, PhD, and colleagues at Rice University, Houston Methodist, and Stanford School of Medicine identifies the neural mechanisms behind the boost in post-nap cognitive performance.
