It's been just over 7 years since I defended my PhD, but I am so pleased to share that my 7th paper from the Hristova Lab is now available in eLife! https://lnkd.in/ey7V-3dS Here, we show that FGF ligands exhibit different preferences for distinct signaling cascades that they trigger through FGFR1, a receptor which is critical for skeletal development. These differences in ligand preferences - known as ligand bias - likely contribute to the amazing complexity of FGF skeletal developmental biology. Many thanks to Kelly and Kalina for leading this project through multiple generations of trainees, labs in 2 countries, and many years! Since I now work as a writer, the opportunity to learn about peer-reviewed reprints by publishing in eLife was a fitting way to wrap up the project. Dear Friends and Colleagues, I am glad to share that I have been invited to be a Guest Editor for the upcoming JoVE method collection To date, very few Journals are available to accept video articles for submission/publication in our field, despite these articles being of paramount importance in the field of cancer immunology and immunotherapy to share new techniques and approaches. For this reason, I decided to open a Collection titled “Immunotherapeutic Strategies for Targeting the Tumor Microenvironment” in the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE): ? https://lnkd.in/dYHe6Ets The purpose of the Collection is to offer a comprehensive overview of different methodologies for targeting the tumor microenvironment for effective cancer therapy The collection will cover, but is not limited to: New approaches for CAR T-cell therapies in different types of cancer? Targeting autophagy for effective cancer therapy? Computational and bioinformatics techniques for the assessment of the tumor microenvironment and immunomodulatory drug repurposing? Production and application of nanobodies for cancer immunotherapeutic strategies? The application of exosomes in the targeting of the tumor microenvironment? The effect of the human microbiome on the efficacy of different immunotherapies? The impact of pharmacogenomics on the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies? The most recent Impact Factor for JoVE (ISSN 1940-087X) is 1.184, according to the 2017 Journal Citation Reports released by Clarivate Analytics in 2018, and the Journal is currently indexed in the major databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science. After submission, each manuscript will be editorially and peer reviewed, which is typically a 1-2 month process. Once a text article passes review, a script will be generated. Generally, a filming date will be scheduled within 4-8 weeks after acceptance. A videographer will be sent to the authors’ site to film the procedure. If you are interested, either message me or submit an abstract here https://lnkd.in/dKduYaXY #jovejournal #Immunotherapy #Pharmacogenomics #CARTcells #TumorMicroenvironment #Nanobodies #Microbiome #Exosomes

Start reviewing a #preprint today on PREreview.org! All you need to provide feedback to a preprint published across 22+ preprint servers is an ORCID iD a respectful, constructive attitude. Follow these 10 simple steps: 1) Choose the preprint to review (you can find priprints with requests for reviews on our website https://lnkd.in/grSHbENi or pick or you can find one on the web). 2) Select the preprint with a request and start reviewing or copy and paste the DOI of the preprint from another website here https://lnkd.in/ed2n9wvN 3) Login/sign up with your ORCID iD - Don't have one? Get one today https://orcid.org/register 4) Choose your adventure - there are 3 ways you can review a preprint: you can select the structured review option to follow prompts, you can choose to have a light template, you can choose the open free field, particularly useful if you wrote your review elsewhere 5) Choose if you want to publish your review with your name and ORCID (this will get you credited for the review on your ORCID profile if you choose to connect the profiles) or with your unique pseudonym, which grants you anonymity if you don't share it with anyone, whilst maintaining an element of accountability 6) Invite any co-authors who may have written the review with you 7) State your competing interests 8) Read and agree to PREreview Code of Conduct (https://lnkd.in/gs2KJkuq) 9) Check that everything looks good and you are happy with your review and choices 10) Publish your preprint review - it will get a DOI and all the metadata needed to be discovered in association to the preprint!
medRxiv and bioRxiv preprints are not peer-reviewed before posting and since they are freely available on the internet, online scientific communities can organize reviews or highlights of preprints and have them linked on the preprint’s page. Take a look at this preprint by Ujimatsu et al. (https://lnkd.in/eC6GvGUu) which was recently reviewed through PREreview (https://lnkd.in/ecCEAEKy).? Preprint reviews are a great way for early career researchers to get involved in peer review, gain experience and network with fellow researchers. For a full list of preprints with community reviews on bioRxiv & medRxiv, visit https://lnkd.in/eMREyq3w You will be able to know if a preprint has “Community Reviews”, these will be indicated on the launchbar below the preprint’s DOI (3rd icon with three people will be highlighted in red) and the link to the review will appear on the dashboard that opens on the right.

The rapid sharing of science by posting preprints on bioRxiv and medRxiv allows different community-organized groups to review and write about preprints. Check out this preprint by Mihajlovic et al. (10.1101/2023.09.25.559237) (from Yolanda Schaerli's lab) that was recently highlighted on preLights. Different scientific communities can organize reviews or write highlights of preprints and have them linked on the preprint’s page. If a preprint has “Community Reviews”, these will be indicated on the launchbar below the preprint’s DOI (3rd icon with three people will be highlighted in red) and the link to the review will appear on the dashboard that opens on the right. Preprint reviews are a great way for early career researchers to get involved in peer review, gain experience and network with fellow researchers.
