During interviews, there are questions left unasked that hold profound answers. Have you ever wondered why one might leave a lucrative position to return to a career from 25 years ago? Sometimes, life's most impactful moments shape our paths in unexpected ways. For some, like me, the decision was born from unimaginable loss and the realization that a job with purpose surpasses mere employment. Personal tragedy can transform us, revealing priorities that were once hidden in the shadows. While the transition may bring financial challenges and professional setbacks, the solace of being present for loved ones outweighs any corporate success. True fulfillment lies in the moments spent with family, not in the boardroom accolades. In the face of loss, clarity emerges, guiding us to appreciate the essence of what truly matters. #PurposefulDecisions #FamilyFirst #PerspectiveShift #childloss

?? Reflecting on the Future: A Journey of Self-Discovery ?? "How do you see yourself in 10 years?" - It's a question we encounter in countless job interviews, one that demands careful preparation. Yet, despite being in this situation several times I found myself at a loss for words in a recent interview. It was a turning point moment, one that compelled me to delve deeper into my aspirations for the future. In that instance, I realized the significance of introspection and long-term planning. I understood that beyond the confines of professional interviews, this question urged me to examine my life's trajectory over the next few decades. Coming across the financial industry, I began envisioning a path not only for personal success but also for meaningful community contribution. It was a profound realization that encouraged me to reassess my goals and aspirations, considering the impact I wish to make in the next 10, 20, or even 30 years. It's a vision that motivates me to continuously evolve and make a positive impact, both in my career and within my community. While interviewing someone who is on (or has in the past taken) a career break, we tend to focus disproportionately on the reasons for the break and we end up cornering the candidate by asking?“why have you been on a break” or “why did you leave the job?” Instead, create a safe and comfortable space where the ask is to ‘express’ rather than ‘justify’. Show grace by normalising the idea of taking a break and instead focus on how they’ve emerged from it by asking: -?Can you take me through your reflections on the past 5 months? -?What’s been the most satisfying…and ?frustrating…thing about this year so far for you? As much as it should be an interviewee’s aim to put their best foot forward, it is also an interviewer’s responsibility to give them a platform that allows them to do so :)

I am ready to leave. Over the past two weeks, I’ve heard this repeatedly during interviews. Often, certain events trigger this and tell you it’s time to leave a job. Some of the top reasons for leaving include: ?? A lack of growth opportunities ?? A disconnect with the company’s values ?? Struggles with work-life balance These issues can build up, leading to dissatisfaction that eventually pushes someone to move on. However, jumping ship without knowing what you truly want next is risky. ? If you’re unclear about your goals, you might find yourself in the same situation again—frustrated and ready to leave before you’ve even settled in. So, it’s crucial to understand what’s driving your discontent and ensure your next move aligns with your long-term aspirations via these steps: ?? Find your fire – Identify what excites and motivates you, as well as what drains your energy. ?? Consult for a second opinion – Seek honest feedback from those who truly know you, whether it’s a coach, mentor, family member, or headhunter. ?? Focus on roles that will move you closer to achieving it. By taking these steps, you’ll be prepared. Not just for a change, but for a leap. Not just forward—toward your unique path. #CareerChange #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #CareerGoals #CareerAdvice #empoweringtips?#empowerpartners #executivecoach?

After completing an extensive series of interviews with a company, I'm reflecting on the journey. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, everyone I spoke with was not only friendly but also genuinely intelligent and authentic. I'm sincerely grateful for the opportunity to have gone through the entire process, even though I wasn't ultimately chosen for the role. ? Upon receiving the news from the recruiter, I learned that there were over 1400 applicants for this same position. Let me say that again, 1400! Do I think it incredible to have made it to the final round? Absolutely! But… ("nothing someone says before the word 'but' really counts." - Tyrion Lannister) it raises questions about the feasibility of providing quality experiences to every job seeker in such a massive pool. How can any company effectively manage such a colossal volume of applications while ensuring each candidate feels valued? ? To my fellow job seekers, remember to recognize your worth and refuse to settle. Rejection from a company shouldn't discourage you. Instead, use it as motivation to invest in yourself. Whether it's hitting the gym, exploring nature on a hike, diving into a good book, practicing meditation, getting a new certification, or embracing the chill of an ice bath, prioritize your mental and physical well-being and keep striving for personal growth. ? Onward and Upward!?
