We are hosting an Overdose Awareness Day event on August 31, 2024. We are currently accepting nominations for three distinguished awards that will be presented at this event: the Stability First Heart of the Community Award, the Stability First Public Service Hero Award, and the Stability First Volunteer of the Year Award. We are also hoping to raise awareness about fatal overdose, overdose, and recovery through remembrance yard signs. If you would like to honor your loved one through one of these yard signs or nominate someone who has contributed positively to the recovery community, please visit our website! https://lnkd.in/gKccyiBf #StabilityFirst #OverdoseAwareness #Recovery #MorganCounty

This article further expands on the situation in the Yukon, and how training recovery coaches in the region will help greatly reduce reoccurrence post treatment. This is where folks really need that one steady person that can help them transition solidly into a life of recovery.
Thank you to Tracy Holmes of Peace Arch News for capturing this story so well. She really did her research, adding in details and furthering the discussions with others who are knowledgeable about the opioid crisis in the northern region. The need is great, and we’re so grateful we get to be a part of this vision to bring recovery coaches to the far reaches. No one left behind. How an Intervention Works Without Rock Bottom At A Sober Caddy, our approach to intervention is grounded in compassion and education. We work with families from the beginning, ensuring they have the support they need to guide their loved one toward recovery. Here’s what the process often looks like: Pre-Intervention Work: Before we ever approach your loved one, we work extensively with the family. This is where the real magic happens. Families learn how to communicate effectively, set boundaries, and break enabling patterns. We prepare them for every possible scenario, so they feel empowered rather than helpless. The Intervention: When we finally sit down with your loved one, it’s not about confrontation; it’s about connection. We don’t wait for rock bottom because we believe in offering a hand up, not waiting for them to fall. The family, equipped with newfound strength and knowledge, becomes a unified voice of love, accountability, and hope. Post-Intervention Support: Recovery doesn’t stop the day your loved one enters treatment. We continue to work with families throughout the treatment process, offering guidance, support, and coaching as your loved one navigates their path to sobriety. By staying involved, families can become a pillar of support in their loved one’s long-term recovery. You Can Create Change Today If you’re ready to take action, don’t wait for rock bottom to come. Reach out, get the help your family needs, and take the first step toward change. At A Sober Caddy, we believe that recovery is a family journey, and together, we can help your loved one find the path to healing before it’s too late. #asobercaddy #parentofanaddict #parentinganaddict #familyintervention #FamilyRecovery #familyinterventionspecialist #interventions #familysupport #addictionrecovery https://lnkd.in/gt_rRSdM

September is Suicide Prevention month. ?? This years theme of the Suicide Prevention Day (10th September) included the global call for starting the conversation to raise awareness. ?? (https://lnkd.in/eYHYixQF) It is finally autumn ??, the days are getting shorter, the sun will come out less often and hence, for some people clouds will not only appear on the sky, but also on their minds and hearts. ?? More people do not want to leave their flats and are alone more often. If you have the assumption someone might have suicidal thoughts or seems unhappy, speak to them openly. One of the most common misconceptions is that talking about it increases the chance a person will act on it, but this is not the case. It is so important that you look after your friends, your family but also (!) yourself. Engage in tasks that do you good, talk to someone you trust if you feel unhappy or seek conversation if you have the feeling someone is not doing good. ???? ?? For help, counseling or just a friendly ear in Austria, do not hesitate to turn to one of the free services. Some of them also offer mail/chat counseling: Rat auf Draht (Telephone counseling): 147 (https://lnkd.in/dXNVaq7F) Telefonseelsorge (Telephone counseling): 142 (https://lnkd.in/dW_zuqT3) Ambulance (in urgent cases): 144

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day This impactful global observance is recognised in over 60 countries. It unites us in a shared mission to: ·???????reduce stigma ·????????advocate for policy change ·????????promote help-seeking ·????????increase our approaches to suicide prevention ·????????honour the memories of those lost to suicide, the survivors of suicide attempts, and those who are bereaved by suicide. In Australia, between 8 and 9 people die by suicide every day. This is more than double the road toll (ABS, 2022). While estimates are 65,000 people will attempt suicide every year (Slade et al, 2009). The suicide rate in First Nations people is twice that of their non-indigenous counterparts (ABS, 2022). We have a long way to go. In Australia this day is led by Suicide Prevention Australia who support the theme that “we all have a role to play”. While the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) has its 2024-2026 theme which is “changing the narrative on suicide” with IASP issuing the challenge to #StartTheConversation. To start the conversation, become and keep informed about suicide prevention, check in with people around you, share your story and advocate for mental health awareness in your community. September Is National Suicide Prevention Month! By serving marginalized communities, particularly young people, the Help and Hope Community Center is dedicated to eliminating the stigma around mental health. Community Outreach and Education: Throughout the month, our team will engage with local schools, businesses, and community groups to provide educational materials and resources on suicide prevention. This includes training and distribution of informational pamphlets that outline warning signs, risk factors, and how to seek help. Social Media Campaign: HelpHopecc will launch a social media campaign to spread awareness about the importance of mental health and the resources available for those in need. Using the hashtag #PreventSuicide, we encourage the community to share their stories, support one another, and break the stigma surrounding mental illness. Safe Storage: Ensuring the safe storage of medications, cannabis, and firearms is a crucial step in suicide prevention. By locking up these items, we can help reduce the risk of impulsive actions and provide a critical layer of protection for those in need. Let’s all take a moment to secure these potentially dangerous items and contribute to a safer environment for everyone.

Every life lost to overdose is one too many. As we recognize Overdose Awareness Month, it's crucial to remember that this crisis touches every community, including our own. In the past year alone, over 100,000 people in the U.S. died from drug overdoses—a heartbreaking tragedy. At Hygea, we're committed to making a difference. We believe that with the right support and resources, recovery is possible for everyone. That’s why we’re dedicated to offering the highest quality care and treatment to those who need it most. By raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and providing accessible care, we aim to turn the tide on this epidemic. Together, we can save lives and bring hope to those struggling with addiction. Let’s honor the memories of those we've lost by working towards a future where overdose is no longer a crisis. ?? #OverdoseAwarenessMonth #EndOverdose #HygeaCares #RecoveryIsPossible
