Are you considering the idea of welcoming a new four-legged companion into your household? Adopting a pet is a fantastic way to introduce happiness and affection into your home. Pay a visit to your nearby animal shelter or rescue center to discover the ideal furry friend eagerly awaiting their forever family. By choosing adoption, you not only gain a new member of the family but also offer a deserving animal a fresh start at a joyful life. Help spread the message and inspire others to think about adoption as well! ?? When you adopt a pet, you are not just bringing an animal into your home; you are gaining a loyal and loving friend. These animals often come from difficult backgrounds, and by opening your heart and home to them, you are providing them with a second chance at happiness. Consider the countless benefits of adopting a rescue pet. Not only will you be saving a life, but you will also be reducing the demand for animals from breeders. Rescue pets are often already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, saving you time and money on these essential services. Additionally, by adopting, you are supporting the incredible work of animal shelters and rescue organizations in your community. Spread awareness about the importance of adoption and encourage your friends and family to choose adoption when looking for their next furry companion. Every pet that finds a loving home through adoption is a success story that deserves to be celebrated. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these deserving animals. ?? #AdoptDontShop #RescuePets #KusudiLa #Passion #Nature #Outdoors #Cause

?? November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! ?? This month, we celebrate the love, wisdom, and companionship that senior pets can bring into our lives. Senior dogs often get overlooked in shelters, but they have so much to offer! ?? Here are some things to consider when adopting a senior pet. On the Positive: ? Many senior dogs are already house-trained, know basic cues, and are accustomed to household routines, reducing the need for intensive training. ? Older dogs tend to be less energetic than puppies, which can suit households with a quieter pace. ? Senior dogs usually have settled personalities, making it easier to gauge compatibility with the household. They are often calmer and less likely to engage in destructive behaviors. ? Adopting a senior pet gives a second chance to animals often overlooked in shelters. It’s also important to consider the likely challenges: ? Older dogs may face age-related health issues, including arthritis, hearing or vision loss, and other chronic conditions. This may require more frequent veterinary care and can lead to increased medical expenses. ? Some senior dogs may need extra time and patience to adapt to new homes, especially if they’ve experienced previous trauma or change. ? Shorter Time Together: Adopting a senior dog means there might be fewer years to share, which can be emotionally challenging. You can read more about these considerations in the following articles: Be Chewy: https://lnkd.in/ghTx2MU6 Dogs for Vets: https://lnkd.in/dnAHfpx4 The Natural Dog Online: https://lnkd.in/dYb9ekAJ If you’ve adopted a senior dog or are considering it, share your story with us! HASS recently collaborated with Shelter Animals Count, Adopt-a-Pet.com, Hill's Pet Nutrition, and The Humane Society of the United States on a webinar around adoptions. This webinar includes data from a recent HASS project, where five shelters tracked what percent of people coming to their shelters to adopt actually did. The data from all participants can help shelters figure out how to adopt out more pets. https://bit.ly/3TMsZJo

Pets enter shelters for different reasons, such as lost or found pets, job loss, lack of affordable?vet care, pet-inclusive housing, etc. Traditionally, families are separated to help the pet. Instead, what if we help the person with these things to keep their pet? In a Pet Resource Center, we partner with human services agencies to connect families with job support, housing, and more to get the best outcomes for people and pets. Many pets can also get help in the community through pet food pantries, low-cost veterinary clinics, rehoming support, temporary foster programs, and more. By providing these services to the community, the shelter part of the Pet Resource Center is reserved for pets who need it most. Having an animal shelter, no matter the size doesn’t solve the problem of why animals came to the shelter in the first place. A Pet Resource Center is a proactive approach with the community to solve root problems and keep families together. #helpingpeoplehelppets?#humananimalsupportservices?#keepingpeopleandpetstogether?#positivealternativestosheltersurrender?#petresourcecenter?#pethelp
